Arrow RTR AX10 Gone Rock Racer........

I've been slowly picking away at modding my RTR AX10 into a rock racer. There's a lot of them popping up here in Colorado, so I had to have something to join in on the mayhem with.

Here's a few pics in stock form........

Here's a list of mods I made so far.........

1. Drilled 2 small breather holes in each wheel, and punched one hole on the inner sidewall of all 4 tires.

2. Swapped to a 24t pinion on the motor, which is as big as you can run with the stock spur. The gear mesh was actually a little snug at first.

3. Batteries. Been running a 3 cell 2300mah A123 pack, and a 3 cell 2800mah lithium-ion pack. I also have a 3 cell lipo that I will be trying too. So far stock ESC and motor are holding up fine, but the do get pretty warm.

4. Axial's super soft red springs out front, part #AX30213.

5. Trimmed and lower the body.

6. Added Axial's aluminum shock bodies, part #AX30122. I also limited the travel internally to lower the ride height and articulation a little more.

7. Locked the front axle.

8. Installed Axial's optional front servo/battery plate, part #AX30486.

9. Replaced stock plastic lower rear links with aluminum for strength.

10. Beefed up steering with parts from the optional rear steer kit, part #AX30492.

For those that missed it, here's a link to a video of this rig in action before most mods were in place. I will do more videos as I progress with the build.

There are always mods that can be made to improve performance, regardless of which model you buy.

Great, now Bender is going to make this into a rig that will probably outperform mine even after I have spent 4x's as much. Oh well, money can't do it all (sponsor sure help though, lol). I am eager to see where this goes.

I am running the stock electronics. I haven't actually run the lipo battery yet, but it's working fine with the ion packs.

It's 1100 mah. It's actually one of my 2.2 comp packs. I need to find something with a little higher discharge rate for this rig.

Just a BIT more! 2100 is my recommendation, or you could stack two of those packs in parallel if you have em.

Hey guys, As john said using two of the 1100 in parallel would work but I am currently seeing what are manufacuterer can do for us in the smaller cell range with a higher c rating. I'm hoping they can do a 20 or 25C 1100 cell with the same current cell length and width. Thickness will increase with C rating but it shouldn't affect the pack to much. As soon as I can come up with something I will test them out. I have a 27T motor in my X-Trail scaler that I currently run on a 2S 10000 pack or a 25 4200 3S the 3S is nuts. Bender what pinion are you runing in the RTR? I've got my scaler on a 15T.

Jason
