Default I had to do it!, CK Night Stalker Buggy

Updated picks on page 8 & 9
Well, after seeing all the scalers and tubers at nationals, I got bit by the scaler bug. I have been wanting to do another tuber, and the competition tubers are getting old. This time around i wanted to do something new and challenging, so i thought what better tuber to build then a replica of my own 1to1 rock buggy.

After doing a ton of reading in the scalers section trying to figure out how things were done, where to get the scale size parts, etc. That's when i was most impressed with the detail you guys put in your rigs. Some of the builds here are amazing. With that said, here goes my first attempt, I am pretty far along, but here is what it took me to build mine.

After checking the measurements of the hpi jeep Rubicon body vs the scale of a real jeep Rubicon. I found that the true scale was 8.15 scale. I took all the measurements from my 1to1 and divided them by 8.15 to make sure i had all the measurements correct.

1to1 Buggy Specs:

110" wheelbase, 13.5" wb
92" width from outside of tire to outside of tire, 11.25 width
53" chassis width, 6.50" width
44" super swampers, 5.4" tall tire
15x10 2" backspace wheels, 1.84" or 1.9" wheels

Tuber Specs:

3/16" & 1/8" brake line chassis
Axial ax10 axles
Axial ax10 transmission and drive lines
(NEW) CKRC viper 4 link mounts
Custom links
tekin fxr esc
spektrum micro receiver
Custom wheel wideners
Tamiya cr01 beadlock wheels, painted/ (UPDATED)
Rc4wd rock stomper "Sticky test" tires (UPDATED)

Here are a few pics of the 1to1.

I ended up using some .20 lexan for the side panels, and 2mm screws to attach them.

The hood took a long time to find. On the 1to1 is a suzuki sidekick hood that i sectioned out 17" in the back and 27" in the front. After digging threw 20+ bodies, i found that the proline 72 chevy hood was nearly perfect to my dimensions and fit the bill nicely.

The tube work looks great! This should be a cool build, the 1:1 is sick.

I keep looking at that Chevy body and how the hood got gnawed off of it. Makes me giggle for some reason.

It does look like a transformer emblem in the pic. Its actually a cadillac emblem on there.

I was just glad i only had to cut one body up for a hood.

SWEET! I knew you would eventually cave and build a scaler... Can't wait to see it in person when it is done, are you going to make a special carrier for it on your 1:1?

We can send you some mini banners to drape over it in case it rains if you want?
