Default my Little Runt

Got an FJ body a while ago and didnt know really what I was gonna do. After a while and some Googeling I figured it was time to Tube an FJ .

Wheelbase is staying at the 11.5 and will sport TLT axles with AX10 drive train. Will be waterproofing it and testing some M.Tronic's waterproof ESC's on brushed motors.

Low Overpass

Break out the torches and pitch forks ............. sorry bad Shrek line

Killer build so far. I got an FJ build going in 1:18 scale with VMG axles. The tube work on yours is going to look great.

Sicc tube work. Really like the "mean" look! Alot of FJ builds, but none like this. Great Job

Did you use brakeline or solid rod? If it's brakeline you may wanna brake up that front piece going to the bumper. Then again maybe you don't drive like me!

What wheels and tires you gonna run?

That is some awesome tube work, and Crawln Coles correct, lots of FJ's, but this one is a new one! I'll be keeping my eye on this build for sure!

joints look great, gonna be badass.
although ive always hated the drooped windshield bars. more rear cage work would be more my style, but then again i like different. definatly hve my attention. keep up the great work!
sounds odd, but my favorite part is the curved dash bar.

Thanks. I used brake line and was thinking the same thing. I still like my crazy wind motors and big throttle finger .

I dont know about wheels yet, there really is so many great 1.9's out there. I know wheels can make a truck say WOW or WTF was I thinking so Im waiting on picking those out. Tires though Im looking towards the Out Croppers or Rock Creepers, Ive seen them run and they seem to work very well around here. Gonna wait though until Pro-Line comes out with theirs though just for comparison.

Thank you. Just using a lot of ideas gathered from around here and the desire to build it.

yeah same here with the dropped bars, was doodling at work thinking what to do with the body and drew 2 eyebrows on the roof line. thats all it took to change the tone of the truck so I figured I would do it to the tube.

I wanted to keep a flow to the body and figured this would be a key part, that and the low roof. glad you like it, thank you.

Well i got my interior figured out last night, it actually gets assembled inside the cab.

now its dashboard time ......... I'll have more pics up later today.

i wanted a full interior but never planned on getting it in there after the frame was done, my rookieness showed right there.

after playing around with cardboard cut outs and my daughters blocks for a couple hours the best thing I could come up with was assembling it together inside the cab. my main goal is to hide everything the best i can including the battery.

instant interior ..... just add screws

drivers side raised floor

passenger side, i hade to go a half inch taller to clear the battery and tranny/motor

2 pieces separate

together like in the cab

and the dog house roof

all 3 together

tranny accessible

and with drivers seat ..... cant forget the adult beverage holder for those hot days on the trail

future makeshift shifter w/boot

dashboard time

the piece with the brown tape on it is clear acrylic. i plan to use this for gauge lighting.

gauge holes with my mocked up MSD Ignition box

with the gauge holes drilled and a 3mm LED shining on the acrylic the light will show on the edges accenting the holes.

no its not the tail of an airplane

my mocked up fuel tank aka battery holder for accessories

more to come ..................................

OMG.

you are really thinking out of the box. I love the thoughtfulness of the peices (even if it comes from necessity, like the interior). Level of detail and originality is top notch. Looking forward to more!

well was working on the truck a little to late and wound up drilling my tranny holes wrong. after trying to correct them it just looked butchered.

so out came the ruler and dremel

then the delrin and drill press, i used a dremel bit to mill the a rectangle

to fit in the spot i just cut out.

this actually worked out good in giving the bottom a something slide.

measured 4 times - template checked 6 times - and a dull drill bit

its almost like I planned it that way

Ordered my axle stuff this past thursday figuring to see the stuff monday so got my links and shocks done.

decided a shave would be a good idea ..... broke out the razor to shave my axles

and here it Saturday ........ nothing planned but a night of watching SNL and what happens today? RPP and RCP decide to just boil those plans.

2 DAYS LATER ......... uhm did you guys have the boxs packed before I ordered them? Top notch service right there guys, thank you!

so after a couple hours of sittin in the basement playing with axles

weather permitting tomorow will be frame paint day ..... im thinking of a Gun Metal look to it instead of a traditional black. im still in the air though on the actual body color but im sure thatll come together later.
