Default Fun Buggy - *Updated 12-20-08

Well I've had some down time from working on my FJ tube project and went looking for ideas. I went to Petersons 4Wheel and first thing I saw was Fred Williams and his Project Fun Buggy. After reading through his build I decided this was gonna be my scale build.

Plus its gonna give me something great to use this in.
Eritex Atlas Transfer case.

Heres some links to Fred Williams build of the real thing.

my first hump was getting these made with out a cnc machine or welder

so I measured up, drew it out on cardboard, traced it onto my steel, fired up the band saw, gouged out 4 pieces then put a drill bit through each one to come up with these.

also tagged each frame hole with a slight counter sink to give the effect like the originals.

for the top pieces just cut 2 thin slices and whacked some holes through them. ( even center punching my marks it seems i couldnt keep them straight :-( )

bolted in a couple of pillow balls

and threw a couple pieces of stainless through them

fired up the Mapp gas

once the steel changed back to its normal color the filing and sanding began and whalla my first obstacle was done.

hump 2 was gonna be the front shock mounts and keeping as close to original as i could.

so i cut up some inner and outer pieces and brased them up the same width as a normal pillow ball.

cut and trim a blank piece for the top ...... can even say i put my blood into this one lol

blew some holes in them and sanded every thing down.

little stunt shot for mock up and thinking
