I would move your upper shock mounts to the inside of the chassis, this will line your shocks up a little better. That is a very impressive chassis set-up though.

DNA chassis is 5mm narrower than stock, however i am still using the stock battery and am holding from using the lipo till i hear from JRH about the ESC i am mulling about using i coud maybe inboard the shocks.
when i first installed on this chassis i inbounded the shocks, looking over at the guy thread who comps with the same chassis i just followed suit, same with his advice for shocks to be used.

update on this build, i have since installed the stock electronics and servo, fabbed the long steering link till i get my JSSuper steering links for the 645. moved the shocks to one more hole back and moved the front 4 link to the bottom hole, altitude adjustment is all it is for now.

here is a question for the more experienced here.
1.Tekin FXR is the ESC i have been looking at. DO I NEED THE HOTWIRE ?
2. do i need a BEC, and do i have it programed at the 7.4 volt output of my lipo ? or can i go without, as i said comps will be way down the road as i got bigger fish to fry right now. TIA

Go with the Mamba Micro Pro, cheaper and perfect for these trucks, IMO. If you get the FXR, you will need the Hotwire to get all of the programming out of it.
You will need the Castle Link to get all the programming features from the Mamba, but both of them together is the same price as just the FXR.

Oh, BTW, wheelbase means length, not width

thanks for the info on the ESC, gonna look into that. being a car guy i should have known about the wheelbase/LOL, however my doubts were the reason for putting the measuring tape against it. good looking out.

Man this thing looks "KillahZ"

I think the FX-R would work really good for you. It does'nt seem like you really need the HotWire to get the FX-R to work good in a crawler (although I am sure it will open up more options) I am thinking you also would'nt need a BEC if you use the FX-R.

The Mamba Micro Pro is a nice esc but thinking you may need a BEC with it especially with a Standar Size servo like the 645mg. And a Mamba Link is a must have.

Either way you should be covered, but I think the FX-R is more versatile.

I am running a 645 on my mamba micro with no BEC, but I am going to install one, just to get 6v to the servo and to handle the 8711 I'm about to install
Either ESC is a good choice really

looks like price, adjustability and longetivity would be deciding for the ESC. thank you for the input.

went ahead and ordered the Tekin FXR. switched the axle placement of the links and shocks to fix the shock angle.

Talking Get the FXR

I have the fxr on my mini. I am running the ht645 servo and hh torque master mini and 1650 lipo. The fxr has a built in BEC that can handle up to 2c lipo. The fxr also has a programable lipo cutoff built in. I bought the hotwire since I use the fxr in my mini as well as my 2.2. (this thing is awesome). The hotwire give you more adjustability for the settings such as drag brake, reverse type/strength, and lipo cutoff. In my opinion, save your 35 bucks for the hotwire. You get great adjustability from the pit tune mode.

^^^ didnt tap the axle mounts, i re-used the stock bolts, the recomemded shocks for this chassis is the mini-t rears, fitment is one reason why. handling is much better from the switch.

i would like to get it out there that i learned all this just by going thru this forum and all the threads i found related to what i had in mind, and i would like to give a big SHOUTOUT to rccrawler forums.
as a background on me i`m a car guy, below is link to a vid of what i do with an exclusive mitsubishi evolution club i belong to. i can post pics of my ride when not in competition if you guys are interested.
