Default 1.9 Toyota Flaty!

This has been my dream project for quite some time. I have always admired all of these beautiful Toyota builds in this forum and it is finally my turn to build one.

This will be my most detailed build so far. I have lots of plans to build this truck to give all the yotas a run for their money. Plans are to build this truck to be as scale as possible performance will be my last priority.

Here are some specs so I don't get pushed to chit chat.

Hilux re-make cab
1.9 Flat Irons
HPI stock car wheels
TLT axles with aluminum knuckles and my own straight axle adapters(wasn't about to spend 30$ on a pair)
Home made chassis
Custom Pede for transfer
6cell 4000mah battery hidden in my toolbox
Custom toolbox
Tq3 with receiver mounted on a custom fuel cell
Juggy springs out back (Longer springs out back to look like a 63" chevy spring swap on a YOTA)
Tundra leafs up front

Well enough words as most of us don't even read them!

This is the 1:1 I'm copying the cage of off.

And here are some shots of my progress.

Big thanks to toyofast for all the pictures of the 1:1, and to RPP Hobby for such awesome quantity of parts in stock, great prices and ultra fast shipping!

Thanks For Looking!

That sure is a nice truck to follow. I believe that was built by Ben "Unimoger" here on RCC. He is the owner of MSD. Need any more help. Talk to him. Keep it up.

Yea that is one of the nicest Yotas i seen. I was aware that Ben had some involvement with that truck but didn't know it was built by him.
Thanks Ryan!

Here is the Fuel cell that will house the receiver.

I'm still on the fence about the skid.

Thanks for looking!

Cool build so far.....
I was going to do my steering like that, but was afraid of the leverage that it puts on the steering arm, with it being that tall....
I'll be watching this one.....it's gonna be RAD!!!

I may have missed this, but what material did you use to build the chassis? And where did you get it from?

I have built several steering set ups like this an have worked quite well. I wouldn't recommend it on a plastic knuckle.
Thanks I hope you like how it turns out!

It is 1/4" square brass and I got it at the lhs. Its a pain to do the bends but I think its worth it in the end.

Well go the transfer mounted and I'm not sure if its gonna stay this way but for now it will.

I'm waiting on STANG to start selling the double planetary gear reductions to buy a cold case transfer. For now this will have to do.

I'm looking for a GD-600 if you have one pm me.

Thanks for looking!

You are going to get alot of axle wrap with the way your leaf mount to the axle it's like running a lift block. I would mount the leafs right to the axle and redo your body mount to raise the cab alittle higher if you need to.

Well the way the leaf spring is mounted to the axle is just temporary. It will have a slick mounting device that I'm still working on.

Working on the front bumper, but ran out silver solder.

Thanks for looking!

Well on that note might as well just come out and say it
Its extremely hard to put into words, but I will make another set soon and have a write up on them.

All the parts where from the dollar store except for the bearings. They are made mostly from sharpies of different sizes.

I promise to make a how to soon!
