Default My 1st scratch built JK scaler.

Picked up a New bright 1/8 scale JK body. I have been wanting to build one of these since i saw Constantmotions.
Parts list.
Lots of delrin. 3/16 for frame rails,1/4 inch for skid and frame supports.
5/16 for links.
Rc4WD 110mm shocks. Rc4wd light kit.
Axial axles with the works. Axial tranny. Axial shock hoops
Proline bumpers. 3 racing winch.
J concepts tense beadlocks with flat irons.

Electronics.
Futaba 3 pm-x.
Tekin fxr. CC bec.
Hitech 645 frame mounted servo.
integy v11 35t.. with more to come.

Well this is going to be my first scratch built scaler. I want to try to get the tranny and spur gear to tuck up in the spot between the seats in the body with out cutting the interior.
I drew up a chassis to try to get everything tucked in nice and not be hanging out the bottom much.
Chassis i drew up and transferred onto delrin sheet. (Covered in tape to minimize scratches).

Cut out and test fit in body.

Made my skid and frame supports/ electronics trays.

Mocked up with tranny.

Mounted some shock hoops and test fit with body.

Worked on some body mount spots.

Post will drop into delrin crossmembers between the shock hoops.
Also made up some rear links.

1st test fit. Looks kinda high. Still have plenty of clearance between spur and top of motor to lower it some.

Going to work on lowering it and mocking up the front axle tomorrow.

I went in and got the body to set lower on the frame. Changed up the rear body mounts a little.
Also made the links for the front axle and got it mocked up.

The front seems to set a little higher so i am working on mounting the shocks in a different spot.

These shocks are sticky. Gonna take a little work to get them running smooth.
Steering throw looks like its gonna be great with these knucles.

Got the bumper mounts made and mocked up today. Kinda at a standstill till i make a parts run tomorrow.
Rear bumper mount made out of angle aluminum.
I hot glued the post in the bumpers and cut them off. Then put some screws in from the back.

Front bumper mount.

Mocked up.

Well i finished up wiring the electronics and drove it a few times today.
I am happy with everything except the winch. Cant keep that thing running for nothing. Always breaking.
Changed the body mounts and servo to a JR 8711.
Polished the shock shafts and changed o-rings in them to loosen them up some.
Added some scale goodies.
Next i plan on making a stinger for the bumper and some better wheel wells.

Flex is great!

Scale goodies added. Made some rear side windows also.

What are your final measurements. Length, width, ride height. Looks great, would love to find one for myself.

Looks very nice! Good job on tucking the chassis up under there so it's not visible.

LOL. Not sure on the paint yet. Gonna scratch up this stock paint some before i decide. I have always liked a black colored rig. Or a dark metallic green?

Took it for a spin today. Crawls great!! Only thing i am going to change right off is the rear pinion angle.
I am going to finish wiring up some lights just to run off the battery. Once i find the right resistors!!
