| Another scratch built JK
This is my version 2 of my other build. Going for a box stock/ showroom floor Rubicon JK look. Homemade delrin chassis and links. RC4WD r2 tranny, JK wheels and 100mm Shocks. (Thanks to RcFrankenstein for the tranny and shocks) Axial Axles. (Thanks to SACCO for them) Not going to be to picture crazy as my first build. Started with cutting out a chassis i drew up. ( Blue tape is to protect from scratches while mocking up.) Made up some body mounts. Front Back. Both are gonna be mounted from bottom so you wont see any body clips. The look i am after going to look something like this. The dirt grabbers may be to small. Might have to go with flat irons. Off to go make up some links, More to come!! See if you can lower that sucker down to level and then those grabbers wont look so bad. I guess it all depends on what kind of showroom look you are going for. The last pic in the first post looks really good. I would raise it a little, but not too much if you want that stock look. like this |

I dont think i am going to be able to get it as low as that without running into linkage problems. Might try a Mini crawler shock. So far with rear lowers mocked up. Gonna kick the rear out just a hair more after looking at this. Rear shocks are droop And fronts have a spring in them.(For now). I think the rig would look better in droop but i have never liked running them that way. Gonna be completely under the flares. |

Cool idea for a build. Should turn out nice. I like the look of the flat irons more. Since it does have more of a factory lift look. You said yo need parts for the uppers..... Did the upper mounts I sent you not make it yet?

that looks awesome, i like the stock type look, set for it looks like your front axle needs to go forward a hair and the rear needs to go back a tad as well might be the picture hard to tell

You should stick with the flat irons. They are wider and taller and fill up the wells way better than the dirt grabbers. The dirt grabbers are way to small for that size of a jeep. You're off to a great start, its nice the RC4WD came out with those wheels.

Finished making upper links and put some detail on the body. Went with the flat irons. The dirt grabbers just left too much space in wheelwells. Just need to get some electronics installed now. Flex Shot!!! |
