Default Central States Challenge 2011

OK Guys, I have announced the Central States Challenge!

You can find the thread here under competitions.

I will bring a signup sheet to the comp on Saturday where you can volunteer to help with this comp. We will need people working tech, sign in, and most importantly judging.

This should be a great event!

IN IN IN!!!!!! I am down for whatever. I am nominating Chris for course layouts, we are going to need to keep it nice and technical, can't have it easy and let someone just walk away with it. I really would like to judge, so I want to judge more this winter and figure out scoring better, man I am looking forward to this. I work nights so am open during the day when it gets closer to coming up, let me know what I can help with or do during the day.

as the event marshal i will not be competing... but i will be helping judge and any other duty's that will pop up...We have a great club, id like to think one of the best in the country. i really want people to come to this and and leave with the feeling of wow that was a good time with great people running it. in time i would like to see this as a USRCCA event. i think the winter series will be a good time to start learning and making out judging skills consistent and fair.

Dewey if you have asperations of this being A USRCCA event then you need to let the USRCCA know. There is only one event allowed per month, so you need to get on the list of future back-up events. If someone can't put on their event any longer than the USRCCA gives up their spot to the next qualified spot. There are some geographical stipulations as well, if an event in PA gets cancelled they may want to give the spot to someone else in that area. Just a heads up, it could be years but the sooner on the list the better of course. This event is the same month as ECC and I don't see Fish quoting anytime soon, so being flexible on schedule would be a plus.

I'll be there, looking forward to seeing the plans for this one coming together.

Also, most event marshals still run in the events. So don't feel like you need to pull yourself out. I have run in all the MWC events. You will also need at least 3 marshalls for the event. We added some guidelines in the rules for 2011 to help people select good marshals and let them know their duties.

Thanks for the insight Josh.
Do you know when the 2011 rules may be posted so that we can see the information?

I dont think you would step on anyones toes, just trying to let you know how to get it official ASAP. I'd love to see another qualifier event within spitting distance of home!

Jim & Dewy,

I won't make it this weekend due to travel for the holiday's, please note that I'm willing to help out where ever needed. I'd really love to get involved in the course design once we get a budget, I've got some really good contacts for large landscape companies that we might be able to get some material donations. Let me know if you form any committees for planning the crawl area, we can also set up a meeting with the owner to find out our boundaries.

Dewy, I'd like to try and get up to SC to get that foam so that I can start working on the indoor area. That way we could have some back up area's in case it rains during the event, it could also serve as a practice area. With a place like the "Plex", people will be talking about these facilities.

This sounds great Rich! I told Dewey that you had some good ideas for making the layout better outside.
Do you want to set up the meeting with the owner? Then we'll try to get as many of the officers there as possible.

I would be more than happy to support the event as a judge. I'll be a "paid" member for next year. I"m not sure I"ll feel like driving with such a full day anyway so if you need a commited judge or coordinator/schedual keeper LMK.

By the way, April 30-May 1st,,,, Isn't May 1st April fools day? (quote from Remington)

Yep, lets set up a meeting once we have a budget. Also I have a few engineers buddies that could come draw up some ideas, maybe even bring Ger back if he's not to busy. We need some creative minds with a design on a dime mentality.

There may be some construction going on around the time of the comp for the new XXX secret building project. We'll need to be able to dance around that without getting in the way, that will be priority for the Plex I'm sure. This place will be an awesome draw to people all around the country with facilities like this.
