Default Axial XR10 steering link and Terra Claw 55T motor issue

Hi all, my name is Benedetto and i'm from Rome, Italy.

I'm a newbie on crawlers, and i started with an XR10 and a Novak M2dig /55t motors combo.

I have a problem with the steering link rubbing the motor , as you can see on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5SSsy6EBa8 .
Is the Terra Claw 55T motor somehow more bulky than the other motors?
Am i doing something wrong?
How can i fix this issue?

This is my first crawler, please help me.

Thank you!

Yes.

Larger pinion gear? Would that move the motor away from the steering link? I don't know what the motor mount holes look like on the XR-10. If they are horizontal slots, that should help.

You may be able to change to a button head screw in place of the screw thats hitting. Or use a Dremel to grind down the screw head.

I was thinking grind the screw head down. Since the screw is already a button head.

Thank you all, i'll give a try to the dremel solution...
It's that i wouldn't believe that a combo advertised as made for xr10 wouldn't fit it out of the box...

And if i wish to change motors, which one would fit and work with the novak M2 dig ESC?

Thank you gain...

A little late, but i had the same problem with clearance at steering link, all I did was hold motor away from linkage as i attained pinion settting. The motor adjustment slots have just enough width in slot to just get clearance. Then notched a film canister for motor gaurd.

I'm building my XR10 with the same motors. My problem is that on the front motor, the tab you solder the wires onto has one millimetre between it and the the holes that you can put the suspension in. As was previously mentioned, I can't believe a product that is advertised for use with the XR10 does not fit!

Can you rotate the motor 180 degrees in the mounts?

I have a harder time believing that the ESC they advertise doesn't even work

In the end i bought a couple of Tekin 55T (the only one i found in stock in Italy) and they fit obviously without any problem.

This is my first crawler, so if i'll get more involved i will go for better motors (HH 45T for example).

I made the same (seemingly) mistake of buying the combo deal. It runs fine for now, but I am skeptical about the long term reliability of the whole setup. I plan to run it till it craps the bed and then go back to my ole faithful Tekin's.

If you solder the wires perpendicular to the motor you will experience less rubbing on the tabs, but it still is too snug for my liking.

No, the screw holes and tabs are in line with each other and the can is sealed.
