| AFOR (American formula off-road) rules?
Should us in the states have our own set of rules? Mimic the foff regulations with a few adjustments- like min/max wb, and motor size in mod class? I'm just thinking, incase any comps come about. That'd be cool, lol, everyone at a beach/lake/river, BBQ, 2 day 1 night comp one big a$$ party! |

I'm against it. You don't want to limit peoples creativity currently I would leave it to the local clubs that actually have enough interest in them to get a GTG or event going to come up with there own rules to have fun. |

I agree with the masses. Keeping it simple, keeps it fun. |

Yep same here, Now there doing it with Scale. What rules and reg's you gotta build your rig by pretty much turning scale into the same as comp. Fun once you get into it but after you get tired of building around rules it is no more fun. I honestly do not think there is any class where you can run just what ever you want to other than this. | |

I was thinking of just using Rock Crawling rules for our local club minus the vehical specs, etc. Simple and most everyone allready knows them. |

Oh. I was just thinking a big "if" there. By no means am I trying to bar anything or make it to where you'd have to build around a rule. I was thinking (w/ sct base rigs) mod = 540 everything else is unlimited. I myself am really not one to follow rules in general, OCD to authorities, and I understand what everyone is saying. Guess I was just thinking out loud there. |

I agree with the non rules. The curious part for me is the format. Obviously a timed course with gate progressions, one front, one rear. I'm thinking best out of two runs. Any input here? I'd like to set up a fun comp here soon just to test it out. I don't even want to call it a comp, I'd rather call it a scored bash fest. |

Doug we have a few options from our spots. A timed gated course like the at the smaller dunes and highest point reached further down at the 200ft+ sand cliffs. I cant wait to run my rigs... |

I'd say go Darwin: Survival of the fittest! Let the drivers build whatever they want, and the course organizers can set up courses to challenge everyone, no matter what they brought. If your rig can't muster the course, then you will need to rebuild it or rethink how you set up your vehicle. Eventually people will start to copy the people that win, and a general set of "unspoken" guidelines to build the vehicles will follow. This is the evolution of the sport (more darwin) and should be a natural progression. Also, rules that limit building vehicles are difficult to prevent loopholes, and there are people that build to maximize advantage within those loopholes, and others feel they cheated, or drama ensues. Let's keep the drama out of this! Build what you think will be best for the course. (General guidelines or "suggestions" would be fine to help the noobs.) However, keep the courses similar to the 1:1s so that builders are building to suit the spirit of the category. Keep it for fun, keep the money out of it. Once it starts to be about the money, a lot of guys lose interest, and it's no longer fun. (One reason I'm not into 2.2 comp anymore.) I'm looking to build one out of some spare parts I have lying around and just having some fun with it (GTG bash sessions at dirt bike tracks and sand dunes and beaches would be way more fun than an established comp.) |
