Aggressor Steering System

Looking for reviews or pictures for THUNDERTECH Aggressor Steering System .

I need either a better mount, stronger servo's, or a complete servo system to replace the one I currently have.
My Clod uses the one from RCGUY but it still does not turn well.
I will post some pics of my setup later tonight and hopefully I can get some info.

Stronger servos would probably be the first thing you should look into. What servos are you currently running?

I have the aggressor steering setup, bta, works great w/ a hitec 5955, had to bend a link a little to clear the servo, also i have aluiminum knuckles. No servo saver.

Yep I need better servo's
I picked up this crawler RTR from a freind. The Servo's are only rated at 57oz torque.
Cirrus CS-60, and Futaba S3003.
Most likley I will be using the HS-645 servo's.

Ok back to the steering system.
Here are some pic's that have me wondering if I need to change the servo position.

In some of the pic's it appears that the servo will be like a bumper for some situations.

My concern is the front servo placement. Just crawling in the garage I used a stack of bricks to show the problem I have on the rocks.
See how the front servo will grab and slide over the brick's. I noticed to be a problem when I first went crawling over the wekend.

The last two pics are the servo placement from the bottom view. White servo front, Black servo rear.

WOW 5955 is a little overkill for $100+ Servo. 333oz torque are you trying to crush the rocks?

But glad to hear that the aggressor works with Hitec Servo's. Differenece of 5955 and hs-645 is only 1mm for lxhxw, $60, and 200oz of torque.

In my clods first incarnation I had a similar setup on the steering.
I was aslo very regularly replacing servo horns.

I then went and bought the RC4WD axle brace servo mounts.
Pulls them futher back out of harms way, although it's still possible to bend the links.

get it mounted on the axle brace.the geometry is to far off in that setup.it will be much better and out of the way

I'll tell you what, it steers! I have not broke any rocks yet! I use the 645 in the rear, and it seems weak at times, might get another 5955!

I'm running the 5955's as well. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Not meaning to hijack the original thread but a question for TXT-666 and mrwonderful.

Are you running seperate powerpacks for your servos or just powering them from the ESC.

I'm running a pair of 5998's and at time's they just don't seem to want to know.
ESC I'm running is a TR2 on 8 cells.

I cut the power wire that goes between the receiver and the esc, and run a 6volt receiver pack to the receiver to power the servos, the receiver pack lasts about the same as my other batt. so it works 4 me!

Unscrew your servo and put it on the other side of the mounts, with nuts and washers holding it in. That will move it back quite a ways.

I have a 4cell pack from a nitro to power the servos. Eventually i will pick up a 6 cell pack to gain the full 330 oz's.

Jason I am trying to visualize how you want me to remount the servo. Say flip the servo upside down, or mount the servo backwards have the servo arm face the axle?

Did a lot of searching and basically looked at every post on the Clod forum just to get an idea of what most people are using. Mostly everyone is using the mount on top of the axle brace. Example is on Dezfan post above.

Time for me to head down to the LHS and get some HS-645's I am glad they are open till 9:00PM

I think you should just go with a behind the axle setup. Your truck will not get hung up as easily in the front and it is very easy to do. No need to spend money on the Aggressor when you can fab your own.

Ratbastard it looks like your current servo position is such that the screw goes through the servo body and then the servo mount.

If you move the servo behind the mount , i.e servo mount then servo body, you will gain a bit more clearance.

The thunder tech bta steering setup (Aggressor Steering System) works well. I have one on my stick chassis running a 330 oz/in robot servo and it works great.

You can also run your steering like our stock steering setups (Traxxas part#2715). This is easy to do and inexpensive.

I may use that setup for the rear and purchase the Aggressor for the front. Hopefully I can save up in enough cash if I don't go to the strip bar this weekend. Might even have enough money to pick up a set of Aluminum Knuckles from you.

I am now deciding on some servo's. Back to searching. Looks like the HS-645mg is everyone's basic servo, but I might try a couple of the Wavepoint Servo 1630mg 172oz torque. (doesn't say what the 4.8v torque is) $32.80
I need to order some airplane parts and can't beat the $2.50 for shipping.

I ordered the BTA Steering (THUNDERTECH Aggressor Steering System) and Aluminum Knuckles. When I get them in I will do a write-up and take some pictures. Let's see what will get to me first, the parts from Arizona, or the servo's from Japan. (ordered at the same time)
