Default Another n00b scale F-100 (new pics!!!)

So I've been collecting parts for my build up for a while now, figured I'd post something worth while. It's looking like a truck now! All thats left to get is driveshafts, body (going with the newer F-100 body, not the bubbly looking one), ESC, machine screws, small stuff, you know I've had lots of RC's before but now that I have a full size Tacoma crawler, I wanted an RC to match

I'm still contemplating 4WS. I bought 2 645's, we'll see how it works out Won't be so scale with 4WS though...

Special thanks to everyone below for all the parts I've bought from this awesome website

BENDER
RD400
Unimoger
run2jeepn
rbgerrish
FORD84
onlyinajeepxj

You may notice my post count is fairly low, just goes to show that SEARCHING does work!

Specs on the truck:
Black SW2
2.2 Moabs
RD400 beadlocks (sweetest wheels ever!)
TLT axles JB welded
Stampede tranny JB welded
55t Integy/84t spur/12t pinion
12" wheelbase (I hope that's good for the F-100)
Duratrax adjustable shocks (yellow and white springs)
TQ3 modded for rear steer
Tekin Rebel 2
Maxx driveshafts
Proline F-100 pickup body
Full bearings
Deans plugs
Orion 3000NiMh batteries

Couple mock up pictures for now

Looks good, but I would make some beefier links.

Oh for sure. I have a few foot lengths of 1/4" aluminum tube sitting at home waiting to sleeve all the 6/32 all thread links

How does my pinion angle look? Guess I should just wait and see how the driveshafts will look on it

Good man! Be sure to put 6/32 nuts on each end of the tube.

Should be just about right. I've seen rigs with a good 45* angle and they still worked.

Are the nuts necessary? I've seen lots of setups that don't run them. Probably just easier for adjustments?

Not only that, but they strengthen the links, they compress the sleeve to make the allthread and sleeve act as one piece. Otherwise it's just a cover to protect the threads.

Perfect, thanks for the tip I'll make sure to pick up some 6/32 nuts at the hardware store next time I'm there

Oh I didn't even try actually. I just put the battery there for mock up haha. I'll try it out again when I get all the electronics in Although it probably won't do it

Do you know how to make battery packs?

I built a nice pack for my bro's TLT and well it works really well

http://home.comcast.net/~nickbaldwin/Bro's%20TLT/TLT%20Crawl/P9040015.JPG

I made it out of a 6-cell battery stick pack(like the one u have)... stick packs are lame to try and mount on any RC... I have cut up all my stick packs and made custom packs for my clod and bro's TLT

really not hard, if u want to do it and need any help on it let me know

I know this is nothing new to most people but I just figured I would share with u (maybe nothing new to u either)

Good luck and looks like it will be a killer crawler

I think I'll see what I can do about mounting the stick pack first then if I have no other options, I'll go with a custom pack. Thanks for the help, I'll hit you up if I need any assistance with building a pack up

Not much to update, just a few little things. Got the reciever mounted and battery mounted lastnight. I'm still waiting to cut the aluminum tube for the links because I don't know if I'm going to use the stock TLT rod ends. They seem to work fine and flex fine but most all the TLT builds I've seen use the Traxxas ones. On to the pics
