Default scale-ish teflon TT

excessifefire's prerunner inspired me...finally got off my *** and started.

parma tundra body (my only toyota choice)
cuting board chassis-about 1/4 done
tlt rear axle
some type of 4 link...not sure yet if it's gonna be shocks off of the axle or lower arm
center mounted front suspension. HPI rs4 rear arms are my fronts, rs4 spindles, hubs etc....
geolanders on single narrowed hpi rims for now, but i like the rpm bullys...kinda look like RG rims to me.
duratrax shocks, 'cuz they were laying around from a dead nylint
no clue on the tranny yet...
waiting on a tower order of suspension stays/brackets dammit! to make the center part of the chassis and link mounts

here's the basic idea...flat aluminum panel bolted across the top for triangulation.

a little progress...the model is Phoebe...3 mos old

the black line is a cut line....steering servo goes in there, too...still working on that area...

custom light rack...

the front end gets about 1.75-2.00 inches of travel, and is exactly the same width as the stock tlt rear axle. it's not gonna whoop up on or outhandle any rc10t's, but it'll maybe look a little cooler??? i think i'll get a set of bullys, and mount the sand tires on 'em...

these

look kinda like these....

one more shot...i realized just how bad and poorly done my first drawing was...here's an equally bad, yet maybe slightly more clear attempt. same color codes apply....
tranny goes in the teflon box
aluminum plate up front foer strength....make sense?

i just realized that the hpi car that donated it's arms has no official transmission. it's just pinion to spur, which turns a shaft with 2 pulleys on it. these were belted to the diffs. if i used it, it would be simple and compact. but would it be too high of a ratio? it would only be pinion to spur, and the spur shaft would be mated to the driveshaft...

time for a little update...

got some chassis work done. still gotta add some bracing, and do the driveshaft. rear suspension gets about 3 inches of travel.

That looks really cool. I have to say, that is the most creative use of a cutting board that I have ever seen. Cant wait to see the finished product.

Default doubting thomases

oh yee of little faith....
it's quite sturdy, but it will still get some more bracing. notice that i titled my post "update," not "completion."

-trailing arms will have plates on each side of the shock mount, to keep them from flexing at the shock mount cut out. bolts both through the mount, and through the arm, front and rear of the cut out area...(in green)

-upper deck area will be triangulated off the back of the "cockpit" area. got a couple of ideas, still gotta play with battery mounting in that area too. nothing set in stone yet. (in green)

-cockpit area (firewall to rear wall of the cockpit) will either have an aluminum panel bolted along each edge (in pink) or a strut rod (in green) to keep that area from wanting to flex.

-and the wife loves me spending hours on it, and none with her..but we all know what that's like, don't we?

Looks like an interesting build. i'm liking it so far.

My old lady hates my R/C stuff, yet about a year ago when I started selling a bunch to pay some bills that I had it made her cry. Little did she know at the time, what I sold didnt hold a stick to what I owned
