Default Step by Step Servo Reversing

If you are like me and run multiple rigs of of one tx and don't have model memory or you simple need to reverse a servo than here is a step by step servo reversing procedure. I hope this comes in handy.

Unsolder the motor.
Rotate the motor 180 degrees (you might have to unscrew it from the case).
Solder it back in.
Don't forget to reverse the pot too.

Whats this for? does it let you use a 2 chnl controller and yet still turn front and back wheels? I aint real sure about this. well not your post but im confused.
i want to run rear steer as well. and i was thinking i need a 3 chnl controller? and i was also thinking why can't i use a 2chnl controller and just splice into the same cable feeding the front steer?

If all you want to do is run rear steer, this ain't for you. If all you got is a 2 channel radio, your kindly stuck with full time four wheel steering. A simple Y-harness will fix you up. There's a few good options here....Holmes Hobbies. Your pretty limited with a 2 channel radio. Minimum needed for a crawler is a 3 channel.

ah ok, cool thanks for the tip. i hadn't bought a crawler yet, but these are the questions i need answered before i jump in and buy the wrong stuff. Thanks for the info. i'll stick with looking for a 3 channel radio setup then. i will also later want to do the "dig" i have read about as well.

Untrue raptorman, you can get by with 2 channels. Dig and/or rear steer is amazing to have though... by amazing I mean almost required

With some cars (or anything else), the only location for a servo might mean that it runs the wrong way around for the corresponding movement on the radio. A lot of radios have reversing switches, allowing you to make up for this by simply altering the radio rather than the servo. But some radios don't have this option.

I have an old Techniplus AM radio with no reversing switches, and I wanted to let my sister use it on a car I've built for her. Currently, the steering goes the wrong way compared to the stick movement on the radio, so i'm going to try this idea on it.

Because chances are that this would result in the rear wheels turning in the same direction as the front wheels, so your car would crab to the left or right. For 4WS, the back wheels need to turn in the opposite direction to the front.

If you can get your head around controlling the front and rear steering independently, you have the option of crabbing and tight turns.

Haha look at me trying to be all knowledgeable.

If anybody else is tired of the flimsy setup for the rear stear on their duratrax cc this little mod would help eliminate that useless spacer and allow them to set up the rear servo exactly like the front one, and greatly improve the angle and effectiveness of the 4 wheel steer! Great post!

Nice help....Never needed it because I run digital and can just reverse the servo from the radio, but it will most definetely help those that don't have servo reversing. Love the detailed pics.

this is a great tip!!!! im going to use this in planes and all kind of stuff.
no more reversing servo y harnesses. sometimes this is your only option to make a clean setup without buying a new radio just cause some dude said you dont have a good enough rig.......

if anything its a great chunk of knowledge that every1 should have

the 2 of the 3 wires on the pcb that you swap go to a potentiometer in accordance to the board in the pic you provided. so if you can access the potentiometer swap the 2 outer wires, then swap the motor wires.... right kamikaze??
