Default Comps

Am I the only one that noticed that we have very few comps going around here. I know that a few people are trying the get a couple started up. I was wondering if we could possibly get a few hobby shops in our area to start with helping out then we could get a series going on so that way we would be able to have a few more spots to crawl. Don't get me wrong I like going out and just crawling around but it would be nice seeing just how much you have inproved over the last time that you done a comp. I geuss the idea behind this thread is to see if I can get a few hobby shops interested in putting on a couple of comps. Thanks Robbie.

See here is the thing. We have only four so called hobby shops in decent driving range. The best of them is Todd at XXXTreme Hobbies. He tries. He puts fourth the best effort. Then next would be HobbyTown in Gville. Rob has been saying for 3 months that is his going to build a indoor course. I have givin up on seeing that happen. He will helpout when it comes to give-a-ways, I think. Then there is Hobby Connection. They have had there rockpile of crap for over a year. But they have such a crappy attitude when you go in there that I don't even ask about crawling. Then there is the Great Escape in Gville. Those guys are nice but seem to focus on flying more than anything. That is why it is up to us and not hobby shops to get crawling going in our area. I have tried but got kinda pushed out of the way. I wont get into that. So, for a good comp, I just make the hour drive south to ATL...Jason

Thanks Jason very much. I am here to strive everyday to make the Crawling scene the most that I can provide. Sickness and other problems are at stake right now, but asap, I am going FULL BLOWN

I want to add more rocks and hard spots at the shop right now. I am shearching everyday to find free rocks that I can get dumped at the shop. If anyones knows of someone that is wanting to get rid of rocks, Please let me know and I can have them dump them here. I am also wanting to get another location to crawl. I would love to build an indoor facility in Anderson, so that we could have another place to crawl with another type of scene.

Dont get me wrong, I have built another Crawling board just for local in our area. I have added Hpbbytown and Gluches own section to post new events and info. to get the ball rolling, but they have not joined the board to do so!! So if you guys want info in our area go here and join Rock n Roll Crawlers board to get the led out and start doing so.

I see what your saying about the hobby shops. I agree with all that you had to say. The only one that I have seen really put forth anything to help out would be mud sweet and gears. I really enjoyed the comp last time. I might and see if I can get a few friends and see if we can build a garden at my house so that way we wil have two diff. places to hold one in this area. Then we will have mine, xxx, and gultches. Do you think that would be a decent idea to pursue? Thanks Robbie

we most certainly just need to get a group of us to get together at the zoo in columbia and come up with a date and time to plan on everyone coming to hold a comp...i know theres 8-9 guys with 2.2 rigs in the surrounding area here...just gotta coordinate and get all of us together on the same day!

with that in mind...im planning on going to the zoo this coming saturday morning...im game anytime all day...but i was thinking and trying to plan on showing up between 9 and 10 in the morning and staying a little after lunch...the nicer weather brings the people out to the river to hang out so they end up sitting where we crawl

lemme know if youre interested...reply in the zoo crawling thread so i can keep track

The guy that owns the Carolina Crawling facility in Spartanburg said that The Great Escape approached him to put on a few events there. Last I heard they wanted to do regular racing also.

All sounds great to me. Lets be rock Crawlers Not Rock Fallers LOL!
I have built the facility, so whats the deal with people not showing up? We have a very strong place to crawl, so get on my thread on the April event and post that you are coming. I think this will help others want to come out if there is lots of other crawlers that will be there!!
BTW Mom is getting better and I can be there more often.
Todd

Another thing that I ask is that people in our area go to http://xxxtremehobbies.com/rocknrollcrawler and post up if you are coming to the APRIL event
Quinten, let me know when Hobby Town is going to have their next event, so I can post it up
Also, Mike when is the Gulches doing one??

MSG,

I think what you are doing up there is great and one day I will make it up there. I would like to see you guys possibly reach out to some of us mid-land crawlers and low country crawlers by maybe putting on an event in our area. The zoo has some awesome places to crawl and its all natural. "Ittybitty" has done a great job of getting the crawlers together in our area. Its just a thought. Hope to see some of you guys down our way soon.

Default Love too!

I have tried to get some of the guys here to go to another event as like a club, but I cannot get anyone to agree. I will try some more and see what happens. Are any of you guys coming the 19 for the April event??
Thanks,
TOdd

Default lets analyze this

First off I would be the first one to come to a crawl that is reasonable but it seems to me that everybody want's it in their back yard. I have researched this and found that columbia at the Zoo is the most centralized area we have in SC. I have even offered to build a rock city/ tough truck course out of real materials and the best I could get interested were 6 people that said they would come out.
Hobbyshops? "Maybe if we quit telling them we can get it cheaper online then they will support us more"
well lets tackle that. If the hobbiest supported the LHS in their areas then the LHS would be more than happy to support the hobby. All we have here in Charleston is a joke as hobbyshops go. Its a Hobbytown that is more interested in kids toy's than anything else. We cant get any type of support for any r/c related projects or gathering. The only product support worthy of mention is the traxxas line in which they get full retail for.

I never would have thought that I would have to try to decide between three crawling events/GTG's in the same weekend! On one hand I hate to miss the GTG in Augusta, but if Todd's going to get something going I hate to not support it. What to do...

If I am not mistaken, the one on the 19th is not at Todds. It is in Greenville. There is a place called the Rock Quarry. Really nice place to Krawle. I have been working with another member on this board to start geting more comps started. We are planning on having a series. We would move around to different locations each time. Columbia might be hard for us to get a comp going there just because it is about a 2hour drive. But I am not saying that we would not be up for going to a comp there, just not hosting one. It takes us less time to get to ATL than to get there. That have big comps all the time with 20 plus people. We need to focus on getting more people envolved in the hobby. That is easier said than done though...

i live in the North Augusta area and attend all the RCA comps being over 3 hours away for each one. But they are ALL top notch comps with some world class drivers! If i know something will be worth it i will make the drive...

Default Granny Gear event?

Justin,
I thought all you guys were refering to My shop when you all agreed on the 19 of May. Not Hobbytown. I just wanted to ask you if all is coming to the event at Granny Gears on May 19. I posted a thread on this and no one has posted that they are coming. I need to know the deal. Tell Quentin to call me at 864-328-4499 to tell me the what date to have it. I annot guess a date.
