Default SCALE TEAM CHALLENGE "River Runner" August 18th

SUNDAY AUGUST 18th. DRIVERS MEETING AT 8:00AM

$5 entry per person to cover lunch.

Alright, so its time for another comp to test your scale rigs. This time we are building on the challenges of the last scale events and adding some new ideas.

This comp will be at Glendale Shoals in Spartanburg, SC.

Here is where we will be meeting Sunday Morning

http://goo.gl/maps/DDVS7

It's August, so in order to beat the heat we will start early.

Drivers Meeting starts at 8:00AM with the first Teams starting their runs at 8:30. Have your truck Registered before 8:30.

We will be using SCRCC Rules for the most part as we have in the past.

There will be 3 events. 2 of them will be obstacle courses run by teams. The third event is still undecided.

We'll be using the SORRCA rules ( SORRCA.com ) for scale points, you will get bonus points toward your final score for having scale looks.

And as an added bonus, you will get up to 5 bonus points for scale items that you would use on the river: canoe, kayak, inner tubes, umbrellas, anything water/beach related. So pile on the scale items and get ready for a River Trip like no other.

We will be running Class 2 and Class 3 at this event. If there is enough interest in class 1 we will look into it, but in the past it has not been more than 1 or 2 people.

Basic restrictions:
No modifications between rounds, only repairs.
4x4 or 6x6 Allowed, No Tracks
No motor limit.
No transmission limit.
No rear steer.
No dig.
Must be shaft driven.
Must look like a truck or other realistic vehicle. No XR-10 shells.
Must have a rail chassis similar to SCX-10. No twin-plate crawlers.
Tubers such as the Wraith are allowed.
Twin Hammers can be run in Class 2 as long as they use 1.9 tires.
Winches recommended. It'll be way tougher without one.
You'll also need tow ropes of some sort, to be carried on vehicle.
***THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO TOUCHING!!!***
Water proofing recommended, you WILL get wet/muddy.

Tire Ban List:
Losi Claws (all sizes, and types)
Hot Bodies Rovers (all sizes)
Hot Bodies Sedonas
HPI Rock Grabbers
Panther Cougars
Panther Leopards
Pro-Line Chisels (all sizes)
RC4WD Rocklin
RC4WD X-Locks (all sizes)
RC4WD Crazy Crawlers
Imex Skulls and Bones
Losi Bashers
Sand paddles

If you have a question about your rig and whether it'll be allowed to run, please PM me NOW so we can sort it out or clarify anything prior to you getting out there.

Stuff to bring:
Trucks, transmitter, batteries, charger, and spare parts!
Bug spray
Sunblock.
Drinks
Cameras!
Lawn chairs if you would like to sit on something.

Now for the somewhat serious part. All entrants will need to sign a waiver. We don't expect anything to happen, but just in case...

Also, should you cause problems for others, you may be asked to leave. We're trying to keep this fun, and we don't want anyone to ruin it for others. In short, don't be a dick or throw a temper tantrum, and we'll all be fine. This is a family event, and there will be kids there, so make sure yours are under control as well. This is a nature preserve everything we bring in goes with us when we leave.

This thread will be updated as more details are added/finalised.

HOTEL INFO

For those coming from a distance there will be a couple of groups staying at the Hampton Inn in Spartanburg. They have a pretty good Rate, and its the best reviews around. Its 19 minutes from the comp site.

We'll be coming in Saturday afternoon and possibly getting dinner that night if yall want to join us.

Here is a map of the location.

I've never done one of those, but I was thinking that may make a good 3rd event.

Another 3 event comp sounds great.

Not sure if you were at the 13 July one, a few folks mentioned filling a tonka dump truck with rocks and pulling it up a hill for a competition...akin to the full size four wheeler tough truck competition.

I vote the pulling sled that thing looks cool. Just need a rake and something heavy to flatten it back down to keep it somewhat the same.

I should be there with the 1 ton taco reborn!

Yes we scoped out a place for the truck pull sled. We will be doing a 100 gate team based Obstacle Course and a sled pull.

Updated first post to include $5 entry fee. This will help offset the cost of lunch for everyone.

Does anyone bring their kids with them to these events? I think I can make it of its kid friendly enough for my 5yr old.

How long to the comps last? ie: approximately what time to they end?

Thanks fellas, just wanna make this event, really sounds like a blast.

There have been kids there in the past and i think its fine. Its a pretty laid back event thats all for fun.
May just need to keep a close eye on him at this location because of the river and slippery rocks.

The comps usually last till 2-3pm. It really depends how long we take for lunch.
