Axle built and ready for the rest of the guts

This is what I get when little cat is left unsupervised
Sleeping on the job

Parts all swapped over and back under the chassis no thanks to little cat

I think kitty was performing a "chassis inspection", that's all...just V-E-R-Y slowly.

Honestly I think kitty was checking out the axle clearance. If we can get one paw under we are good to go

Needed to some rewire work on the receiver. It’s a pain when that little antenna comes out the back. I don’t really like putting a crazy bend on. Nothing a couple well placed holes can’t fix. This is going to tie in with that I have planned.

Thanks durok

I am in 2 minds about the paint. Been going back and forth on which way to go. At one moment I am going to do 2 color and pretty much what is standard and out there. Nothing wrong with it that’s most of me bodies and they usually turn out good.
On the other hand I have been kicking around the idea of a racing scheme. Not sure if it fits the crawler theme but it would definitely be different. Below is what I kinda have in mind

Hit me first hurdle with the Cross body. I didn’t realize that the rear sat below the rear bumper mount. For some reason they designed the body so that the rear is lower than the front. Wasn’t expecting anything like this.

Couple of paint ideas - sticking with your color scheme examples:

Black mountain range on gray body with thin lime-green separator trim line

Yellow mountain range on black body with thin white separator trim line

??

... and I'm confident you'll figure out a solution for the back end...

I was kicking around the idea of of some mountains

Just something about the race scheme that keeps popping up in me head. I think it would look ok but not sure how the race theme goes with rock crawling. I have seen several Toyota’s done in Ivan Stewart livery. Maybe that’s why I am stuck on it and keep visiting the idea.

Rear bumper is a real bugger boo but if you notice it lines up almost perfectly it would figure

Did some late night work. I hacked the heck out of a TRX4 rear bumper mount. Also going to use the Vanquish bumpers front and rear. They fit nice and have the look I am looking for. I feel I took to much off the sides. I knew I should have stopped sanding at a certain point but it was late and wasn’t paying attention. In the end it’s still going to work.

Time to start the front

Front is all cut out

Time to start testing front bumpers.

First up Vanquish Pro front bumper to match the rear

Well that’s not going to work. Nothing improved it not matter what I did. Disappointed in it as I had high hopes.

Next is a Knight Custom FC front bumper

I am liking the look of it. It’s going to offer nice approach angles. Only draw back is it’s 3D print and don’t know how it’s going to hold up.

Last is RC4WD

This one is the heaviest of the bunch. It sticks out farther than I would like but I don’t see that being to much of an issue. Also I am able to run a small winch up front.

Let me know what you guys think or any suggestions.

Nice!

I've seen various mountain range graphics that stretch in-between the wheel-wells on 1:1 trucks before, I think I may even have a Pro-Line sticker sheet with some - it's really old and buried in a shoebox somewhere....

I have that same RC4WD bumper on my Ascender now, it was meant for an SCX10 but I bent the mounts and then put 4 screws through it - it hasn't budged even though I have fallen off obstacles directly on the nose from more than 3 feet up onto solid rock!

I was using a WertyMade before that, but it wasn't protecting the corners of the body.

I'll say the Knight Customs bumper sure looks sweet - but I also have no experience with 3D printed metal.

Here's another view of the graphic you found:

Another:

And one showing a mix of colors:

Very nice looking TK build Mr. Fuzz. I’m really liking your body choice for this build.

Thanks for the comments

Been a slow week of finishing this up but here’s an idea of it with the front grill in place. I am really digging the look

Tinkering around with a winch on the bumper. The winch doesn’t interfere with the body having the bumper tucked in as far back as possible. I am leaning more towards this look.
