Default Shimming the trail king axles

I got a trail king kit on the way (supposed to be delivered yesterday, but we all know how that goes ). What size shims will I need for the axles? Is there even much shimming needed on these? Our hobby shops are open here & a few of them keep scaler/crawler parts well-stocked, so finding shims won't be a problem. I'm assuming shims in various thicknesses for ar44s will work?

Congrats! It's a great kit. A ton of fun to build.

The axles are basically a AR44's so your shims should work. I didn't shim anything because it seemed fine to be honest.

I think these use 5mm but don't quote me on that.

I have the SSD kit too, and have held off building till I get some shims myself, so this is one question I can use an answer on for sure too.

What Shims are usable for the SSD Kit? Besides the 5mm for axles etc, assuming they are indeed 5mm shims used there.

I picked up some shims yesterday & my kit arrived too! Started building last night & the fit is very good. The rear axle had just a slight amount of play. I tried the thinnest shim & it was too much. The front axle was just about perfect. So no shims needed for me. I'm impressed with the kit so far & Jato, you're right, it's a fun build. I'll do a build thread soon!

That is wonderful info. Been holding off until I get some shims in hand. Guess there is no need for that. Everyone I have read that put the kit together seems to say no shiming was needed. That settles that.

Built the axles up for both kits. No shims used.

Got both set of axles built and one kit in a pretty much roller state.

No Shimming anywhere. However. there are 3 aluminum (clear) 1mm spacer in the tranny bag. I did not see anything in the manual, so I may of missed it.
I used 2 of the at the front end of the Diff Pinion between the Drive Shaft and the Diff Housing where the pinion shaft comes through. If you look, you'll see there is a small recess at the front of the housing there. With it in place, the drive shaft comes right to the face of the spacer once you install the m3 cross pin.

No shims otherwise inside the axle. the 2nd spacer went on the transfer case side, however I think i missed the one for the front diff pinion shaft. So I will look at that tomorrow.
