Default Bananaclip’s King of the Trail LC70

Guys I am a little late to the party but I am happy to announce the start of my SSD-TK build. Nothing to groundbreaking with the introduction other than the kit showing up.

I will be posting my progress and kit upgrades along the way while trying to avoid the step by step assembly that everyone gets tired of.

Off work today. My life partner is down with the stomach bug and school was canceled due to many cases of the stomach bug. So while the wife is quarantined from the family in our bedroom I will set up for assembly at the kitchen table. No Fancy magnetic mat or scale garage for viewing pleasure just yet. Old towel and building essentials only.

Thank you Fookison. I’m kinda at a standstill until usps brings some goodies. Some should be showing up today and tomorrow. I plan on doing other smalls while I wait like green slime and oil the shocks etc.
Like mentioned many times the SSD kit is top notch so far and easy to assemble.

More updates soon.

Default Bananaclip’s King of the Trail LC70

Question for anyone already running their TK using brushed power. What turn motor are you using with the TK scale trans? Are you happy with your low end control and top end wheel speed when needed? I thought I needed to order a motor for this but just found a new HH torque master pro 27t in the shop. Might order something different if needed. I like to drive my trucks slow and under control but I like to have some top end if it’s needed.

I haven’t put power through mine yet. I am like you I prefer slow and controlled. I stuffed in a 27T 550 HH Trailmaster Sport. I think it’s going to be a good start and will adjust from there.

Enjoy the build it’s a good one

Thanks for the feedback Mr.Fuzz. It’s kinda hard to beat Mr. Holmes brushed motors. We shall see. I am enjoying this build very much. SSD quality isn’t lacking.

I got up this morning and finished up with all the damage I can do until the mail runs today.

I’m waiting on SSD brass knucks, and SSD rear steel tubes amongst a few other bits. The diffs are shimmed, thread locked and greased and I tossed some new SSD OD gears in the front. The shocks are very plush with TLR 22.5 weight and traxxas yellow springs. I added some rubber bumps from LURC and Fish Spring cups. All I had was blue ones on hand. I will post more when the goods show up

While waiting for the mail I hit the shop to build a good buddy a front bumper for his 4dr TF2

Setting by my 2dr TF2.

I should update my TF2 thread. Lol

Love that 2dr Yota! Did you fab the f/r bumpers? Good approach angles there! BTW: how do you find the crawling performance of those Wrangler tires?

Thank you sir. It’s my personal rig and yes all the metal work is my doing. I’ve done metal work on these tiny rigs for quite some time. The Wranglers Are the best tire RC4WD has released to date IMO. I have owned a few different sizes of them and they all work fantastic. The set shown on the truck are 1.7’s mounted on 1.9 wheels. They are filled with single stage CI foams. They hook.

Excellent work!!!
Thanks for the tire review!
I am just building an Enduro chassis and will cap it with a Killerbody LC70 body, thinking to try the same 1.7 tire (Wrangler) setup on mine to keep the scale appearance.

Nice looking TK! I hope we keep seeing more builds of this truck. It deserves a ton of love.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I apologize for the long delay but this build will see completion. Been building 4 different rigs. Every one of them is very time consuming as most of you know. I wanted to show the bobbed bed. I still need to reinforce and sand more but it turned out good imo.

My class 2 4Rnr is about done. This is final ride height.

More to come. I hope everyone is well and safe.

rs10man thanks man. I could get these things done much faster if I would just build one at a time. Here is another I’m building

The 4 door I just finished for a local pal.

I was able to squeeze just a little Easter time on the TK. Nothing groundbreaking but the front and rear bumper frame mounts are done. Lol. I also slapped on the SSD wheels and tires just to see.
