A Trail King for Trailing

Here it is, the replacement for my Trail Honcho.

Funny thing is the day after my Honcho found a new home, I found a newly built Trail King locally for a deal I could not pass up.

There is not a scratch on the belly or the links, and the way the rocks are here, I will say it has only been driven inside if at all.

Then I was thinking...

It hurt.

But what truck needs a Chevy V8? It would be sacrilegious to put a Ford body over the obvious Chevy engine, So my Bronco is out.

Then it hit me,

Literally A old Hilux body fell off the shelf and hit me when I was digging through a stack of bodies.

In order for the body to sit low enough I enlarged the factory hole on the hood of the ancient Tamiya body. Now the air cleaner sits out in the open and I have t strap the body down some how without adding more holes....

awesome... the trail kings is a beast ... certainly a great performer without any mods on the stock configuration.

Nice! I like what you did with the air filter sticking out rather than just taking it off the motor.

I can't wait to get my Trail King!! :ror:

Thanks gentlemen...

I can't wait to get her out on the trail/rocks. She is a solid feeing truck, very rigid frame and very smooth shocks...

I found a front bumper I like...

Just discovered, the Firma 40 esc uses the same programing card as the Hobby wing 1080!

Some settings changed, and

The first run at White Water park went well. This little rig climbs things my F150 only dreams of! I love it...

Yes very noticeable. Its 6 oz lighter, to my surprise and balances the same. It made lines my F150 struggles with easily. The body is substantially narrower allowing for better tire contact, and the center of gravity is definitely lower, combined it works really well...

I am looking forward to it! I’m going to slap and hardbody on it, going for more high up scale trail truck/tow rig rather than low down crawler.
