Default SSD Trail King K10

So the Trail King is a replacement frame for my aging and hard to get parts for Vaterra K10. Instead of just axle swaping its getting a new frame and axles.

Here’s the progress so far:
All the basics to get it running are done. Radio box/fuel tank has been removed from the rear of the crossmember. Rear frame extensions are removed, might have to still chop the frame down. Or do a full bodied K10.
Just body work left to do and OD T-case will be on its way only experience with over drive is with a element rc trail walker so a new setup to learn. More pictures to come after work.

Vaterra Cab K10 and rear cage. Or Proline K10 cab. Both used and i will replace both of them they cracked at the cab mounting points well used and rolled on the trails.

A fine idea

Both nice bodies, but my vote is on the Vaterra

Thinking what color this new cab should be?
Thinking purple and black with dried mud. Similar to my traxxas summits body. I like that color combo picture as a reference.

I was not worried about needing a spare transmission.

There is no aluminum transmission housing for the TK. They make a similar transmission for the SCX10ii which is aluminum. I think it sits higher in the frame so it will clear the front driveshaft.

Glad you piped in. I never realized this was not a version of the tranny in the TK kit until you mentioned it. I wonder if the od setup would even work in the aluminum case tranny...

So electronics are placed with the battery. Small 2s/3s 1500 helios rc batteries held in using velcro. and then ESC+on/off switch and tx on the opposite slider balances out nicely.
Cab paint prep begins.
Thats about all for this evening.
Canadian Thanks Giving weekend and going to try and make headway on the K10.

Should keep the CG fairly low. Center battery tray was in the way of where i wanted the cab to sit. So just unbolted it. Its only four screws.

Debating if i should retain the spare tire look and C1 swampers? What size where the stock tires? I know 1.9” but not the OD of the tire.

Just a curios thought hit me. Would the enduro trailwalkers shorty battery tray work on the TK and allow the battery to remain in the stock position. And clear the body? Short answer is NO. But if you modified the cab and cage it would work. So i am going to think about this.
