Thanks! Yeah, I am planning to do the rear as well....I wanted to test out the front to see if this aluminum sleeved threaded rod setup is going to hold or if I'll need to redo the link with stainless sleeve. Then I'll make the rear to match. Yep, I am looking forward to the AZ comp!

Loving your new updates

I am just putting the finishing touches on my new steering. I was shocked to see that I have a very similar set up as yours. I guess great minds think a like

I hope it works well for you at the Arizona comp.

I using a similar setup and 5/16 aluminum rod and it flex's like crazy. But I have just been running it and dealing with it because I am going to try out the dual servo setup very shortly. Let us know how it works for you. Looks really good though.

the quality of the aluminum makes a differance. the 5/16 6061 hex aluminum works fairly well usually. On my steering, I ended up using solid stainless rod and threading it, though I will prob. build some of the aluminum ones with the new chassis soon

That's kind of what I was expecting.....I've already got the stainless tubing ready.

Yep, this is just the stuff you get out of the K&S boxes. Thanks for the info on the hex stock.

Last weekend I stripped out a kingpin thread on the tube, so I drilled and tapped them for 4mm kingpins. However, the new kingpins were a bit too long....I'll need to buy some 8mmx4mm bolts...but here's the finished product:
(sorry about the bad pic, my camera wasnt cooperating)

I also installed some new motor pinions....15T in the front and 14T in the rear. I had tried both off the shelf metric and standard pinions and both were loud as hell. So, I ordered up the ones that RC4WD makes.....I guess they have a proprietary gear cut. Either way, my truck is now a lot quieter with the correct pinions!

Did you install a 4mm sleeve or does is it just the screw?

Thanks for the compliment!

I took this truck out for a test run of the new SS sleeved steering rod and it held up well! No flexing at all!
