For links, they should be fine....especially if they are straight. I use the same setup (all thread with tubing), but using aluminum tube for the uppers on this truck and I have never had an issue. Here is the SS tubing that I use:
https://www.onlinemetals.com/merchan...d=12913&step=4

It is 1/4"OD, 0.035" wall...

I believe the flex is happening at the bend or the rod end...

Sweet "thumbsup" Prices so low I paid more for shipping than I did my materials . Thanks again.

What hexes did you use? All the ones I can find use a bigger pin than the axles have. I have a pile of the RC8 ones and wanted to use those but can't unless I drill out the stub shafts, and that's not something I want to do.

JeremyH 04-25-2011 07:49 PM

I run some Losi buggy hexes. The pins are bigger than the hole in the stub shaft....IIRC, they only needed to be drilled out slightly.

Scottmisfits 04-25-2011 09:14 PM

OK, I don't want to drill them out at all. I know there are some hexes out there that have the same size pin but I can't seem to find any. The ones from a Savage are supposed to be a direct fir but you need to buy a whole cvd conversion kit or something to get them. Again, not something I want to do but I am running out of options here.

JeremyH 04-26-2011 08:06 AM

Why are you against drilling the outers slightly? It really only removes a tiny bit of material. I havent had any issues with breakage in that area after drilling mine.

BTW, these hexes can be used with the stock pins, however there will be a slight bit of play in them due to the smaller pin being used....

Listen to Jeremy on this one. His rig has zero slop at the hex area.

Also Jeremy just go to the straight tie rods, zero slop, more steering strength, and they never really get in the way. "thumbsup"

These are new from Integy. They're actually pretty nice. They have the smaller pin (stock super bully) and the larger 3mm pin and they offer a bunch of different offsets.

oh, and they are cheap! "thumbsup"

Nice find Jimmy those are cheap. "thumbsup"

I'm only against it because I have already tried and my drill bit's aren't good enough. I might just end up doing it anyway. I'll try it tonight. I did pick up some newer and better metric bit's.

Scottmisfits 04-26-2011 07:21 PM

I tried my 3mm and it was a touch to small but it did go through. I just had to use a couple of other ones and go a little at a time and take it out to 1/8" to get the regular buggy hexes on there. Thanks for the help.

Finally, thanks to Turbofest, a steering setup that I can trust not to bend!

This has got to be the nicest rig in this forum !!! Would you care to tell me how much $$$ you have invested in this??? One of the first pics of this is my screen saver at work...white truck body with the metal links...freekin awesome build. I would like to have one like this someday...and wondered what the price tag was so I know how much of my other RC stuff I needed to sell off. You can PM me if you don' t want to say in public....I know it's got ot be pricey

Again, fabulous vehicle !!!

Ah...if money was no object. ;-)

Wow....thank you guys for the kind words! This truck has been through many changes and it seems to be working well for me lately. I dont even want to know how much money I have spent on this thing...:ror:

Well, I took this truck out for a test run this morning and the new steering is NICE! MUCH more clearance over my previous setup and no flexing at all! This steering kit is a MUST HAVE for super bully owners!"thumbsup"

GREEDY GENIUS 06-19-2011 11:29 AM

Sounds sweet, glad to hear its going good for ya man,i wish i could say the same for me,lol..i spent tons of money and countless hrs/days on mine to get it where i want it and its just to a point where its "what to do from here?"...no one and i mean NO ONE within hrs of me run supers,i've been to 2.2 comps etc and its like everyones into the 2.2 and could care less for the supers and it gets quit boring going out by yourself and building your own courses,lol...so im on the fence as to what to do with it?i've thought of gutting it and selling it as a roller or just selling it as is?...but then im like..HELL NO MAN!..i've put my heart and soul into this thing!...so time will tell?...im on to a scale crawler 2.2 with fj body and tons of goodies, check it out in the 2.2 forum and give me your input on the build so far.as always jer, good luck with yours man, always had a thing for the IVORY!

Looks awesome, nice job. Any plans to add white delrin upper and lower links?

JeremyH 06-23-2011 01:38 PM

Actually, just this morning I installed some Lunsford TI 140mm Uppers. "thumbsup"

I plan to keep the delrin rear lowers...
