Re: Ivory Those are the Dlux mounts that I had on there before. The new cases came with additional link mounts, but they were thicker so I decided to use these. BTW, I forgot to mention that Barry made this case slightly thicker than the stock case (~2.3mm thicker). So I shaved down the flanges on my tubes to keep full shaft tang engagement with the locker. The bolt hole patterns for these rear cases are slightly different as well....so I redrilled the tubes. I used small grub screws in the older holes to help retain the strength of the flanges. I can also tighten the grub screws from the outside so they can put pressure against the case halves. |
Re: Ivory Whats the reason for making them thicker? |
Re: Ivory With all that Bling White, Why not white motor wires? :lmao: The new cases are looking great on there, keep up the awesome work and see you next week "thumbsup" Rob |

Re: Ivory WOW! That is sweet. How much weight did you save??? BTW, you need to switch out those metal link sliders for delrin. you will save some more weight "thumbsup" |
Re: Ivory The case weighed the same as my shaved metal case....but the shaved metal case was missing the bearings. I tried the delrin sliders and would kill them pretty quickly. |
Re: Ivory I finished up the "front" Bulldog gearcase last night and got the truck back together. I am happy with how this turned out! I mounted the Dlux battery tray straight to the CF gearbox plate: http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps31fd2546.jpg Lots of stuff in a small space: http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps3db09940.jpg Good motor placement and plenty of clearance: http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...psf504560e.jpg Steering: http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...psdc0145c2.jpg http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps495ac2cc.jpg |

What is that thing you are using for steering? People aren't de- casing their servos now are they? |
Re: Ivory It's the DLux servo strengthened kit...good stuff. |
Re: Ivory It was awesome watching Ivory in action this weekend. Did you figure out what was up with those servo strengtheners popping and skipping teeth? |
Re: Ivory You need to shim the gear on the bearing. With out the shim they like to skip a lot. I also machined the alloy spacer that goes into the bearings, I machined mine down so it was the same height and the bearings thickness. This removed all up and down play in the gear. Then I tightened the gear mesh right up. After all this I have it working amazing and trouble free. I haven't found any position yet where the servo struggles like it used to. |
