Righto time to get this rolling again. I picked up a minature lathe this week and CKRC decided it was about time to ship my order. So look out for more updates soon. I got the lockers turned down today, so V2 owners there is another option for super 300s. Hopefully it will hold up, but if they hold up with 3.2s for me I think they should hold up for anyone with 2.2s. Also got one axle fairly well asembled. Servo mounts are next up.

Yeah same gears except for the 4th gear. They are v1 berg gears.

Got one tire done. To anyone who is unsure if the $40 or whatever labor the blokes charge that makes these properly, just pay it! I tacked the outside with Locktight 406 just to hold them together, then I went back on the seam on the inside with Hobby king clear rubberized CA. I've given the seams a few tugs and they seem to be strong enough.

Complete

High tech work station

Hacked rovers

One seam

Look out for more soon

Went together just as nice as original. Perfect size. Weighs 265g compared to 2.2s with near same set up of 150g. There is a bit of tread folding but hopefully that will just pull out.

Looks good! I hate to tell you, but those folds wont pull out. Your best bet is to cut out a small section of the tread (not the sidewall) and glue them back together. I went through this on my SuperDonas.

Hi Kiren,
here is my idea for an selfmade tire. Maybe it helps you.
Cut an 2,2'' Rover in 6 pieces and use 11 pieces for one 4'' tire.
Bothsides cut off about 13 ° -14 °
virtually it works

Greetings - Sascha

Thanks Ahh well to much of a pain I'll just run them and do the next set properly with a 3.2 sidewall and whatever tread I end up using.

To many cuts for me, I flat doing 3 cuts straight enough to glue it all back together neatly But your idea looks good I believe someone did a similar thing to cut rovers up to a 40 series rim. Maybe try search for it?

Done. The best eritex, crawler innovations, HB and 'The nerd' could put together

Next up is putting my idea for acheiving all the steering super 300s can offer to work. Warning it's not for weak stomachs. Details soon.

To keep thing rolling I thought I post up so details of my plan. What my idea is to do is make a plate to relocate the motor from the designed position to roughly on top of the gearbox. It will be slightly higher (not that much maybe 10mm) and I will have to notch out part of the gearbox. I then plan to make some form of cover to put back over the notch just to keep muck out. This will allow full steering given no other limiting factors (Links will be the big one). This will hopefully be tomorrow's project so look out for updates.

These pics are bit rubbish but it shows roughly my idea.

Was a bit, but it was worth the end result.

Did some more mock ups today. So far looking at around a 16-17" wheelbase. 50 degrees steering front and rear (yes I can get that) plus dig this thing will steer on a dime I just hope the HV300 hold up otherwise it's $350 to get HS7980's! Also I got one axle milled for the motor access, with a few stuff up's. But all said and done I would like to get some housing's machined with some mix matched gear how does 51:1 berg axle's sound?

Hi Kiren,
looks very good so far.
A gear ratio from 51:1 sounds very juicy and good for a 4S Lipo.
Which chassis do you want to use?

Yeah 51:1 should be good, but I'll have to ask around to see if anyone can make custom cases. Or more to the point if I can afford them On a side note 41t on 4s would be a little crazy! I have got a bodiless chassis here that I got cut, but I'll see I might change my mind again!

I have been working on the rear axle today, got half of the servo mounted. On a side not I have no idea where I'm going to stuff the lower links
