Sprung front and rear Motor plates will be modified DNA axial motor plates (in orange), but I only just ordered them so I'll see how quite I get them. So next up I will probably finish the steering, try work out how to stiffen up the suspension a bit. The shocks a layed fairly well over and the springs aren't that stiff it the first place. If I still have time I'll start on the wiring. Kieren Last edited by Aussie Nerd; 08-24-2010 at 03:35 AM. |

Steering is done Looks like I might need the 180* mod for the servos though, 50* of steering takes a bit of doing. I also ordered up some more delrin for the skid, you always forget the little things Kieren |

It's cool to see you still working on it. How are those RW pinions? |

Course I'm still working it slowly though Don't think I'm going to use them. They aren't actually mod 0.6. It is a 'semi compatible' tooth cut that only has about half a tooth in contact at a time. I have some 11ts on order that are actually mod 0.6. Plus 11ts are the same size. I have word from RW that 9ts are actually the same size of a 11t. Kieren |

She is a runner, but my good old berg gremlins are back The F/R motors are starting at different times no matter how many times I recalibrate the ESCs I might just have to fiddle around with the trims till it works. Everything seems to hate the rear servo, when the rear motor finally decides to start it likes to glich and go half throttle straight away then drop back to nothing. Unplug the rear servo it's fine I think. Wonder if there is a difference between the MKS and turnigy? I might try it all on 6v again to see if the servo voltage is the problem. I do need to make a skid plate though, but for now I'll try get these electronics happy. Hmm wonder if I have enough for 7980s Pics later. Kieren |

Got the motors starting correctly 18 sub trim on the rear motor and they start in sync nicely. Now for the servo. Kieren |

Took it for a bit more of a drive today, glitching seems to have died down fairly well. But the throttle is touchy as might be time for a hotwire, to try and smooth things out. I need to make a skid plate and get down to the rocks to give it a proper go. Rear Front I don't think a piece of paper fits through the gap Kieren |

Had my first breakage today, one of the weld on the link mounts failed, so I have pulled them all off to do a proper job this time. Might have helped if I actually cleaned the rust off before I welded, live and learn. Also got the skid plate done, relatively basic design with a channel down the middle and cut outs for the rod ends to slot into on the corners. I've also got a hotwire on the way to hopefully smooth out the bottom end. Not sure whether I'm just not noticing it as much or if they just need a bit of use but the servos seem to be calming down. I was thinking about picking up a pair of 7980's but I've got some other projects in mind that the money might be better put towards This one has already had WAY to much spent on it. I should have pictures on the rocks this weekend if the rain stops. Kieren |

I went for a bit of a crawl with it today. I'll upload some pictures later tonight. Not overly happy. The throttle control is junk. Not sure if it is the lack of gear reduction or the ESC/Motor set up. I've got a hotwire coming so hopefully that might smooth things out a bit. But the things it will do is crazy walks (well jolts) up verticals with severe undercuts no trouble. The suspension needs a bit of work too as it quite unpredictable. Kieren |

Switched over to the 9ts I had originally bought for this build. Just from driving on flat ground I definitely have got some lowend control back. Only thing is the mesh of the pinions in VERY hard to set due to the different tooth design, and since between 3 and 10 bolts need to be removed, depending on state of axle assembly, just to access the motor plate it is quite a pain. I've got the front quite good but the back needs meshing again. They are also slightly noisier than the 11ts but I guess that is too be expected, hopefully with a bit of sticky grease and some drive time they will tame down. Kieren |
