| SDS Customz (Superdave) Super
Alrighty then here is the pics with the Tech. Please dont add this all up cause every time i do it scares me. the main ingredient for this Super is T1E. Once ya have one ya cant get enough of um. 2-berg housings w/ 2-sets of berg "Super 300" 300m chromoly shafts (the only 300m shaft in the industry) shafts fitted w/new super duty pins SDS Customz 300m third gears(the only 300m gears in the industry) Dual long tubed housings Vanquish products axial high steer zero ackerman knuckles fitted with custom made 7075 aluminum 17mm hexes Custom made knuckle weights(mine allow for 10 oz of ajustability per side below axle center) custom made upper link mounts Axle mounted battery tray 2-Holmes Hobbies 35 turn motors(a must have for smooth bottom end and all out wheel speed) w/11,12 tooth pinions Electronics- I use 2 tekin fxr's to control this beast(for sheer size and reliability) W/4 steering servos, the only way I could keep them happy was to employ 4 cc bec's (again because they are small and easy to package. they are also very reliable) 4PK 4 channel reciever Suspension- fairly simple 4 link w/revo ends. Upper links are alum lowers are stainless. (until I figure out how to weld Ti) Traxxis big bores front and rear. tlt stays to attach shocks to the links Tires/Wheels the wheels are narrowed and lightened 8 spoke wheels tires are Rover XL's. these tower well over 8.675" Foam is taken care of by Crawler Innovations. (modded by yours truely) These new tires are really big and weigh more than my old tire/wheel combo. these weigh in at just under 10 oz each. As you can tell I have fiberglass re-inforced the wheels to keep them together. Just in case you where wondering how many tires it takes to make a set of ROVER XL's Steering- Front steering is handled by 2-7950's @ 7volts (approx. 900 oz) rear is brought up by 2-bls152's @ 6volts. (approx 820 oz) rear will be swaped out to 7950's for no reason other than simplicity of spare parts. I find no reason for more steering power. more power will break the titainium screws, as i can bend them now if not paying attention FRONT REAR Batteries- I only run MAXAMPS packs. I use an 850 ma 3s 50c. this pack gives me about 10 min of runtime with the big tires. It also doesnt over battery the car giving it instant parts breaking power. Since bringing this car out at ECC this spring It hasn't broke a single part!! Wheelbase- I will push the wheelbase in the re-build to right at 18" Weight- with 18 oz of weight up front this car still weighs in under 8lbs. I will try and get it down under 7 lbs after nats with some new housings. Misc.- All hardware on this car is Titainium, wiring is 18 gauge and smaller, bearings are ceramic(for weight and smoothness). I would like to thank all of my sponsors that have supported me in this sport. Without All of the sponsors and vendors we couldnt make these cars a reality! If I followed in Axials footsteps, there would be little to limit how long it would take. The countdown would end , then we would have to have another 3-4 months till the actual pics would have to be posted, then we might get it finished in another month or so. Only playin, love all the guys at Axial, check the first post for the tech.

with enough tire, hits are absorbed better. now that im semi used to it, the car itself really doesnt take many hits at all. Last edited by SDS Customz; 08-18-2010 at 05:58 PM.

Ceramic bearings have been used in racing for years......Brian Kinwald had them in all his cars way back in 2002....he was paying nearly $1000 a set back then..... I saw Brian hit a wall at snowbirds during practice that sheared the entire front right off his car......every part was broke, except the bearing... They are used quite often in offroad too..... All racing cars are going MUCH faster with extremely hard impacts and I've seen no issues. Awesome build by the way......maybe we should put some Super Team motors in it for worlds Later EddieO |
