OKAY, I STARTED SOME WORK TODAY, I FOUND A DREMEL CUTTER, PART # 199, THAT HAS A CUTTING O.D. OF .370" AND THE FLANGES ON THE 4mm FLANGED BEARINGS I'M USING ON MY KNUCKLES HAS AN O.D. OF .362", PERFECT. SO AFTER DRILLING THE KNUCKLES TO 5/16" IPUT THE BIT THROUGH THE INSIDE OF THE KNUCKLES AND SPOT FACED THEM TO ACCEPT THE BEARINGS FROM THE INSIDE. THEN ALL IT TAKES IS A .10" SHIM BETWEEN THE BEARING AND THE C HUB.
I ALSO GOT THE C HUB'S DRILLED AND TAPPED TO 4mm ALSO.

Nice work Bob...I'm gonna be following behind you on the 4mm bearing upgrade in the near future. I haven't had any issues with the stock bushings yet, but anything I can do to tighten up the rig will be done...I can't stand sloppy parts! I just wish someone made better lockers for these...the slop in them drives me nuts

It isnt so much the bushing, but the crappy threads in the "3mm" kingpins...

AGREED, THESE AXLES WERE USED WHEN I GOT THEM (AND NOT VERY MUCH) AND THE TOP THREADS IN THE FRONT TUBES WERE STRIPPED.
THE 4mm SCREWS HAVE TWICE THE CONTACT AREA.

Oh gotcha...I was thinking the issue was similar to xr's and bergs where the bushings develop slop. I had seen one thread where the bushings broke...

Knock on wood, I did the two coats of Red Threadlok and have not had an issue yet.

If they do get sloppy, the 4mm mod will be for me.

Nice one Bob...

WELL I GOT MY KNUCKLES AND TUBES CLEARANCED , SO NOW I HAVE THE KNUCKLES READY FOR FLANGED BEARINGS AND MORE STEERING.
AS SOON AS I RECIEVE THE TIERODS FROM TURBOFEST I'LL SEE IF I CAN CLOCK THE FRONT TUBES OR NOT.
I ALSO BROKE THE FLANGE OFF ONE OF THE BEARINGS SO I ORDERED SOME MORE FROM AVID BEARINGS, I DID'NT HAVE ONE OF THE SPOT FACED AREAS CLEARANCED ENOUGH AND CRACKED THE FLANGE OFF WHEN I INSTALLED THE BEARING .
BUT ALL IN ALL IT IS LOOKING GOOD.

OKAY, STARTING TO BUILD THIS BIG ASS RIG , GOT THE CHASSIS SKID CLERANCED FOR A LITTLE MORE ROD END ROOM. GOT THE NEW BEARINGS INSTALLED IN THE KNUCKLES AND AM ON MY WAY OUT TO THE SHOP TO SHORTEN THE KINGPIN BOLTS 1mm TO CLEAR THE PIN LOCKS.

THE POSTMAN CAME TODAY WITH A FINAL PIECE OF THE PUZZLE , THANKS TURBOFEST.
NOW I CAN SEE IF THESE TIERODS WILL WORK WITH CLOCKED TUBES.
MOCKED UP THE CHASSIS ALSO, JEEPINDOUGS SHOCK STANDOFFS ARE NICE, USED AN ANGLED ROD END ON THE TOP MOUNT. MIGHT HAVE TO SHORTEN THE FRONT TOP LINKS A LITTLE.
NEXT I NEED TO REASSYMBLE THE AXLE SHAFTS AND KNUCKLES, MAN, GRINDING THE KINGPIN BOLTS DOWN 1mm WAS THE HARDEST PART OF THE BEARING MOD, I ENDED UP USING A SANDING DRUM ON THE DREMEL.

Looking good...do the shocks bind on the standoffs when the suspension cycles?

NO IT SEEMS OK , I NEED SOME O-RINGS TO KEEP IT IN PLACE BUT I THINK IT WILL WORK.
HAVE TO GET THE AXLES TOGETHER TO PUT WHEELS ON AND CHECK CLEARANCE THERE.

OKAY I GOT MY KNUCKLES INSTALLED, I USED A .014" SHIM WASHER BETWEEN EACH BEARING AND THE C HUB. AND THEY ARE SMOOOOOOOTH AS BUTTER .
I FOUND THE PART # FOR THESE SHIM WASHERS HERE ON THE FORUM, I THINK THEY CAME IN A PACK OF 11, BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME I CAN'T FIND THE THREAD AGAIN .
THE PICTURE BELOW SHOWS THE 4mm SHIMS, 4mm LOCK WASHER AND A 4mm WASHER FOR SIZE COMPARISON. IF ANYONE HAS SEEN THESE SHIMS IN A THREAD CHIME IN PLEASE , THEY ARE THE "SHIZIT" FOR THIS BEARING MOD.
