Nice start. I found with my setup (exactly the same) I had to move the shocks to the outside of those mounts...to clear the servos. Just an FYI.

I will watch this to see what you do.

Any specific plans?

Casey

Nice start Bob!

CREEPERBOB 07-29-2011 07:37 AM

THANKS GUYS, I'M VERY PLEASED WITH THE DEAL bpd964 MADE ME ON THIS SETUP. AND WITH THE MINOR ASSYMBLY I'VE DONE ON IT , I LIKE IT A LOT ALREADY "thumbsup".
I'VE GOT ALL NEW ELECTRONICS I HAD GATHERED FOR A 2.2 BULLY BUILD THAT I WAS'NT HAVING VERY MUCH PROGRESS WITH.
I WANTED A SUPER BULLY EVER SINCE SEEING THEM AT CASA GRANDE LAST SEASON.
I WANT TO GET A SET OF AXIAL 40 SERIES BEADLOCKS TO NARROW AND WILL MOST LIKELY TRY MY HAND AT SOME CUT N SHUT ROVER XLS', ALONG WITH TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO SWING THE SERVOS I'LL NEED .(THESE FEW ITEMS WILL PROBALLY RUN AROUND $600.00 .
CANT DECIDE WHETHER TO BUY THE CAB FOR THIS CHASSIS OR GO WITH A BODY YET EITHER.
ANY INPUT WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Yep, servos on a super kills you on the cost. A bit of advice...make sure you do it right the first time. You dont want to be buying new servos in a few months because you arent happy with the torque...

It's all up to the terrain.

Down here, our super courses have big boulders and BIG, tire swallowing holes, so a larger tire works better. If you have more off camber stuff, then a lower setup with a smaller tire will probably work better...."thumbsup"

ARIZONA HAS ALITTLE BIT OF EVERY KIND OF ROCKS YA CAN IMAGINE.
I'L PROBALLY GO FOR 7.50" TO 7.75" ON THE TIRES, THOUGH SOME OF THE TIRES I'VE SEEN FROM CRAWLER INOVATIONS ARE SWEET 8), THOUGH PRICEY, BUT BY USING PLASTIC WHEELS IT MIGHT WORK OUT, HAVE TO SEE. MY MAIN PROJECT RIGHT NOW IS MY VULTURE CREEPER BUILD, AS SOON AS THE FINAL PIECES ARRIVE FOR IT.

LOOKING AT SERVOS' IS DEPRESSING
WHAT IS THE BEST SETUP? DUAL SERVOS' FRONT AND SINGLE REAR OR,,,,,,,,,,,?

OUCH, THEY ARE BAD ASS THOUGH. "thumbsup"

CREEPERBOB 07-30-2011 06:37 PM

WELL I SCORED A SET OF AXIAL BEADLOCK 40'S AND A SET OF MOAB XL'S FROM RMDW "thumbsup", PRICE WAS GREAT AND I THINK THEY WILL WORK OUT FINE.
I'LL NARROW THE WHEELS DOWN TO AROUND 2" AND HAVE THE MOAB'S FOR SIDEWALLS FOR ROVER / MOAB CUT 'N' SHUTS.
NOW IF I CAN JUST SELL MY 2.2 BULLY ROLLER AND GET A PAIR OF SERVO'S IT'LL BE GETTING CLOSE .

CREEPERBOB 08-01-2011 09:32 AM

I HAVE A COUPLE MORE QUESTIONS FOR MY BUILD.
1ST, IF I KEEP THE 38.1 GEARBOXES (DOUBT IT) WHAT TURN MOTORS AND PINIONS WORK WELL WITH 7.5" TIRES?,
2ND , IF I PURCHASE 65.1 GEARBOXES (PROBABLE) WHAT TURN MOTORS AND PINIONS WORK WELL WITH 7.5" TIRES?

THANKS FOR ANY INFO "thumbsup"

gdhknives 08-01-2011 11:01 PM

Check into servocity.com on the 7980's. As for the gearboxes I've seen a couple of the 65:1 with 35t but not sure as to what pinion. I friggin' hate my 38:1 boxes and I'm running 55t with 12T pinions.

BigBlackCummins 08-02-2011 11:28 AM

Looks like a great start Bob!"thumbsup"

BTW - I finally replied to your PM, sorry it took me so long!

KC_JoNeS 08-02-2011 05:28 PM

I run 35 T Brood Creep Type S motors (matched pair) along with the 65:1 gear boxes and 13 or 14 tooth pinions. I also run 8 inch tires. I have control and torque from slow to go.

I also run on 3S.

Casey

WELL SOME NEWS, MOMMA ASKED WHAT I WANTED FOR MY B DAY 8), GUESS I'LL BE GETTING A SET OF 65.1 GEARCASES
THIS IS GONNA BE A FUN BUILD WHEN I CAN GET STARTED ON IT .

CREEPERBOB 08-07-2011 08:15 AM

I'M GONNA START PRICING MATCHED 35T MOTORS FOR THE NEW 65.1 GEARBOXES "thumbsup", SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM. I WANT A GREAT HOLD BRAKE (STRONG MAGNETS), THE HOLMES PRO CRAWLMASTER LOOKS GOOD, I'LL CHECK OUT EDDIE O'S MOTORS TOO.
DAMN THESES 7980 SERVOS' ARE PRICEY, BUT THAT IS WHAT I WILL BE GETTING WHEN I CAN .
CAN'T DECIDE WEATHER TO DO THE ROD END CAP MOD ON THE SHOCKS OR USE JEEPNDOUGS' 6mm STANDOFFS.
AND A RADIO???????????? I GUESS THERE IS NO WAY AROUND NEEDING A 4 CHANNEL SETUP RIGHT?

Nope, not really. And, IMO, the best type of switch for rear steer is an indexed thumb wheel...only two that I know of that has that is the 4PK or the Nomadio React.
