Really like that chassis '53, those old willy's were awsome looking rigs, between those and the old m-37 power wagons are my favorite old trucks.
I also like the hub mod your doing, but i wonder if the leverage of the big tires will rip the small circle out of the plastic wheels, it will be great if that works out.

I love it guys.

It gets us back to the early days when it was about running a body that looked good but maybe wasn't the best on "rolling over". Kudos to you for bringing ti back.

Time to pull out my RockPleazer...

I bought these axles used from a member on here...he did the front tie rod..it was not giving full super 300 angle so I tweaked a few things to get full throw...other then that it's the same as when I got them...seems like it will work fine?

Thanks bob....I love the old power wagons too...I almost built one instead of my willys...
I'm pretty confident in the vp hub...I can't take any credit for it though...Eddie at crawler innovations is the 1st guy I know to try it. I don't really see it being an issue...it seems pretty dang stout.

Thanks bud! Yeah the truck cab may prove hard for roll over ? I will do some testing once I get this thing running....mostly I will just try and keep the rubber side down...haha

Got the all thread links mocked up...just waiting on my other set of shocks....I abandoned the axial shock in favor of some 4" big bores and mini t springs....
Probably gonna lower the ride hight a bit...looks a bit tall in the rear...? But that might just be because there is nomfront shocks on yet...

Here is a shot of the dlux adjustable super upper link mount!!
Simple and effective!!

Full super 300 steering angle....even with 7.75" tires I hope to have no rub?? We'll see...?

Don't worry about rollovers with a super. It's not likely to happen like it does with a 2.2, unless your cab is ridiculously tall. You're better off building the truck so that it can drive uspide down to an obstacle that you can drive up and flip yourself over.

After looking a little closer at your pictures, the small inner chassis section with the outer cab for shock mounts looks similiar to what I've been working on lately for my super. Once you get the amount of material to be removed down and settle on materials, that should work nicely.

Built up some tires last night....it was not as bad as I thought it was gonna be...

The sedonas are right about 7-3/4" with crawler inovations firm inner and soft outers in a 2.0" wide...they feel soft....just how I like my sedonas!!!

I decided I did not like the trencher lugs on the sidwall so I shaved them off...
Looks much better and I assume it's gonna drive better too..

Did rear boss claws (reds) they came in a bit shorter then the sedonas they are a little over 7-1/2"...shaved the trencher lugs off the BC's too...

It's looking like a real super now!!

I'm going to use some shorter rod ends for the shocks...should sit right where I want it once I do that...

Full front lock

Full rear lock...I also did the every other row cut on the BC's..

That chassis got small real quick after putting those tires on.

need to thank super shafty for the great how to vid...and CI for the machined lip and vp hub ideas

some metric bolt action and thick fender washers...

cut the outer lip off..

mark your next cut with some tape just like super shafty's vid

machine a lip the same width as the bead surface you cut off....not pretty....but should be SUPER strong and it works great!!!

perfect!!

now its time to add the vp hubs...
I used a 90* angle air grinder and a sanding disk to sand off the 17mm hex

I went to just a hair over 1.5"
Nice--you will like how well your wheels hold up doing them that way I did mine and a couple other sets similarly and they have held up NICELY!!

Rigs looking good (for bergs)

Your build is looking really good. Whats the width tire to tire? And what hubs are you using?

yeah I had cut my own link mount out of CF and it looked like ass compared to the dlux version....

far as my wife goes it only cost $200 to build a 2.2 and $400 for a super....

Ok ya I was right at about 14.125 with the super bullys tire to tire width. And I was pretty happy with that. I just sold my super bullys and am gathering parts up for superbergs. I think you are going to be really happy with the bergs myself. There are a few superbergs up here and I never see them have any probs with theirs. Anyways thanks for the info.
