| BigBlackCummins' new Super XR...
I had sold my SuperBerg after 2+ seasons and wanted to do something different than "everyone else"... I think I will have fun with this Super! My original goal was to try and be in the 5.75lb range. I don't think I'm not too far off that mark, but I'll get a final weight on it soon. I just need to wire up the electronics and she is ready for the rocks! Here are some specs on it... (Bare with me while I add pictures...) Chassis: Infectious R/C Carbon Fiber Super Chassis Carbon Fiber tube upper links MF&W 3/16" Ti lower links Aluminum & Ti hardware Wheels/Tires: Infectious R/C Carbon Fiber Wheels Cut-n-shut Super Pins with Crawler Innovations 7.75" 2-stage Super foams (Moab sidewalls wrapped with Boss Claw treads done by yours truely) Aluminum hardware Axles: VP XR upper cases front & rear VP XR motor plates front & rear VP XR upper link mounts front & rear MF&W custom machined XR housing extensions front & rear VP XR Chubs front & rear VP XR Knuckles front & rear MF&W 3/16" Ti tierod & draglink front & rear RC4WD gears front & rear Axial Wraith pair of long side shafts front & rear CrashFab servo mounts front & rear Rowdy battery mounts at the front motor and front axle D-Lux brass knuckle weights with added carbon fiber/delrin weight hangers Aluminum & Ti hardware throughout Electronics: Team Brood 45t Vapors Holmes Hobby BR-XLs Hitec 7990 servo front & rear Castle BECs one for each servo Futaba 614ff Rx All controlled by a Futaba 4PKS Tx I'd like to thank everyone that had a part in making this Super XR possible: - MF&W (Marc) for all his help and willingness to machine these "one-off" parts for me. - Brood (Eddie) for keeping my motors powerful yet lite, and for de-casing and pulling the heatsinks from the ESCs for me. - Infectious R/C (Brian & Myself) for getting these carbon fiber designs made and (soon to be) available to the public. Infectious R/C carbon fiber wheels... Complete wheel weight... In comparison, a narrowed HPI Blast wheel at this same width weighs 3.1oz! |

We (Infectious R/C) haven't had any testing time on this carbon fiber version yet, so it might be a bit until we prove it's durability for the public. Quote:

You are right Jeremy, my carbon chassis is basically the same look as our Ti chassis, with a few changes for this material.

Very cool BBC! It's good to see this chassis up close instead of just in Crash's videos. That rear upper link mount sure is spaced up high....do you think you'll have any issues with it like that? Last edited by JeremyH; 08-22-2012 at 08:32 AM. |

Not sure on the rear upper mount yet, I was thinking of making a solid aluminum spacer if I like how it handles. I was trying to get links on the axle close to how they were with my SuperBerg axles... I hope it holds up at least while tuning, but it may change the height when I actually start driving it, time will tell. Quote:
When is your Super going to be running... and don't tell me your changing it now! Last edited by BigBlackCummins; 08-22-2012 at 09:06 AM.

Glad to see your SuperXR axles are working good for you! I replied to your PM also. Quote:
Ya, I was beat after that FULL day of crawling and I completely forgot to stop and see ya before we bailed. I got a new solder station coming, so I am looking forward to doing it all myself, thanks for the offer though. I'm sure we can make a deal for that React & case, shoot me a PM and we'll work it out. P.S. - I heard you and Brian got to talking on Sunday, looking forward to hearing/seeing how that works out for ya.
