Things are changing direction, picked up a set of super bergs in the classifieds.
Never owned berg axles before, looking forward to it!

Nice score... Why the change in direction? Those super bergs look virgin, which will need some work, is why I'm asking.

Strength mostly, plus I have never fooled with berg axles before. I have never driven a super so I will build with these virgin axles and drive it. This leaves lots of room for mods that will allow me to learn about berg axles. I work at a machine shop and there is plenty of vendor support for bergs now so getting them up to par shouldn't be tough.

Ps: Who doesn't like virgins?

I used my pretty much stock bergs for a season and they held up great. I just couldn't see dropping anymore money on them. But, then again I don't work at a machine shop.

Not sure who doesn't like them. They do tend to be a lil clingy though...

That's easier to combat than it is to find virgins now days.

What else did you need to do that you didn't want to spend the money on?

Machining the tubes to accept clock able chubs or buying new tubes. All the chubs and knuckles, different kw setup and changing the outer super 300 to axial. I felt like even with all them mods, I would still be behind versus the super xr's. No doubt about it, the bergs are stronger. I think with the super xr's, it's gonna take some finesse driving and know when to take a repo and not try and power out.

I think you can use the ax/scx 8* c hubs and knucks with berg shafts.

That's part of the stuff I'm talking about learning. The xr is dying and there is rcc vendor support for berg based rigs. I am thinking it may be a good idea to learn the equipment that will have support. Knowledge gained with these super bergs directly translates to 2.2.

I had never owned a set of bergs till I got the super bergs and have hated working on them ever since. I'm used to my xr's and now all my rigs use xr/wraith parts, which means I have spare parts for every rig. I haven't felt like the xr is dying but do agree, there is a lot of vendor support for the bergs. I also hated the width of the bergs with the flat face wheels and having to stack hubs to achieve the tw. Not bashing on bergs, just stating my opinion on it.

I hear you, I have been a huge proponent of the xr axles, but Axial abandoning the comp scene has forced me to open my eyes to other options.

Bergs should be more forgiving for me to learn how to drive a super. I still have the XR stuff if I change my mind AGAIN.

I'm lucky enough to have one of each. The xr is all vp'd out and my berg is all dlux. I've never broken a part on my berg. The xr, not so lucky. That's why it's all vp. I agree with rowdy. I have a new set of xr axles that was either getting a chassis or the super treatment. They are going to be sold for berg money. They are tough and the parts support is great. I will point out to be fair that I've never driven a stock berg. Erik worked my first set of axles. It was a great call. I can't wait to see more of this build and what choices get made here. I also hope more people start realizing that berg is here to stay and it's the best option we have.

I built mine 15 months ago. Haven't broken a single gear or even heard them pop. They're stronger than you think... But bergs are that much stronger

The bergs will be perfect to learn with. They are new enough to be competitive and they'll hold up forever

I've just swapped from an xr to berg axles. The berg axles are so simple to split the gearboxes.3 bolts is all it takes.
About all you need to learn is drive around the gearbox pumpkin.

So super gurus, what size pinions should I use for 45t motors and these Berg axles? Also what are the best pinions to use for bergs, I know they are different than XR pinions.
