AusRods first Super

Hi guys, I am fairly new to RC crawling having bought my first crawler early this year. being an engineer I don't care for aesthetics and aim solely for performance perfection although am rather inexperienced in the crawler scene so any advice and ideas are much appreciated.

I have recently purchased a pair of RC4wd super bully axles and will be trying to design and build as much of the crawler as possible from scratch based around these axles. I am currently working on a chassis and not having much background in super's i would appreciate anyone's feedback and tips for improvement.

I am new to the super crawler world also, but it looks like a pretty good design to me. Look around on here in the superclass forum and see the style and type of chassis people are running. I am not saying copy a chassis but use them for ideas to build a chassis. But it looks good I'd like to see a build thread on it when you start building.

Did you get the lightweight super bully?

I got the normal super bully axles and I really wish that I would of got the lightweight super bully, the normal ones are crazy heavy

Very nice.

There's a few guys in Newcastle with supers. I have one and live in singleton.

I'm using the bully platform and have modded the gearboxes.
I love supers there so much fun to drive, just wish there was more around for comps

Been busy at work and haven't had time do play with my crawler, today I finally got a chance to cut out a servo mount for my super bully axles. Once I try these out there is a fair amount of material that i can take out of the base.

So i ended up cutting plastic chassis pieces out and putting my 2.2 wheels on to give try it out. I am waiting for new cutters so i can cut out some carbon chassis pieces and need to decide what tyres I want to run as well as get a good motor and ESC set

Looking pretty good.
Couple of suggestions:

get a clocking jig for axle tubes, you want front knuckles angled back or atleast parallel to ground, and rears parallel to ground. Otherwise your steering will be real wonky

Lose those shocks, they aren't good at all.

He's gonna need to shorten the uppers. The clocking jig won't offer that much correction.

I figured that was a given lol

That photo was from first trial fit of the links, i drilled the axle housing and clocked them 30deg. I need to change the servo mount as it keeps getting caught up. More steering angle would also be better.
