Default RICrawler's super Berg adventure

Picked up a great start to a super build from Stick King, and I'm about to have my way with it... This is something I've been wanting to build for a long time and I'm pretty pumped to have a jump start on it! My pro rig is a Berg and I knew there was no way I'd go any other route than Berg!

OG super 300's all around and Dlux tubes, looks to be a custom cut chassis that should work really well when I'm done with it, plus I don't think I'll mind running a body on this rig anyway.

Thinking I'd like to cut the chassis to angle the bottom a bit instead of the flat bottom it's got, nothing too drastic but I think the lines will look and perform a little better. Also make some new lowers more to my liking, these parts will be simple.

A little harder thing to tackle is I want to run the servos on the opposite side of the motors to avoid a complicated super tight setup with the bigger servos than I'm used to. Ill have to come up with a different servo mount idea, and i think id like to run the servos against the gearbox instead of the tubes. I'll address this soon I hope, just want to get this project moving quickly.

I'll try to keep up with the updates but I'm usually to excited to finish projects and just drive them! I expect to need some advice and ideas along the way though, so a thread is necessary to my success!

Very cool. Always good to see new super builds coming up. Looks like you have a good start with some good axles.

I know you will make this a slick ride. I was excited to hear you and Brian would be building supers for nats, looking forward to running big rigs together.

Thanks guys! Really looking forward to getting this one running!

First problem... Found a broken pin in one of the super 300's, where can we get rebuild kits for these? SDS still make them? Never had a single problem with the ones I've ran ever, just a good cleaning once in a while.

You can give him the length and girth and he will make you pins.

Or you can buy pins from McMaster-Carr.

My local hobby shop has lots of music wire in stock, if its strong enough I may try that route.

Pretty sad that there is no support for these great axles anymore, I still rock OG's in my pro rig and love em'. Haven't had to worry about them, was happy to have them in the super but now I feel sad...

Thanks for the compliments Rowdy... Brian's is built and running, I'm sure there will be a lot of tweaking and mods along the way though. His smash cooling box fits nice in it and keeps things nice and cool. Got to drive his a little yesterday but those twin stick radios are hard for me to wrap my mind around! Gonna see if I can get my MT-4 to do what I want and I think I'll be happy.

Got a little done today so far... Front axle mostly mocked up. Now to do another one!

Don't mind the little servo... Gotta do some wheelin' and dealin' to afford the big boys right now!

Finally at roller status!

Got the cvd's fixed, chassis cut, new lower links, and feeling pretty good about it for now.

Ready to start electronics, only thing I'm lacking right now are servos... I have a couple that'll be ok for testing so I'm gonna get it running as soon as possible. I'm predicting a 7.5 lb rig, it is pretty loaded up front with knuckle weights. Also gotta get a body...

At least I'm seeing the light now! Getting close...

Looks great. Leave all the spokes on those wheels. They look silly with half of them trimmed out
