Default JSLICK's WESMADE SUPER

Well it has been a long time coming. I have always enjoyed watching supers, however I was a bit intimidated by them. I picked up a SUPER Bully roller at Worlds and went to town. I am lucky to have some very talented members in the clubs I belong to. First off one of the baddest looking supers out there to my eye is Turbofest's rig. I wanted something like it but a little different so I asked the VP of EPARCCrawlers Brazwewn to sit down with me and pound out some ideas. Here is what he designed for my first SUPER.

This was the first rendering and some slight tweaks have been made to the cab height and some other places. Wes has a very cool link calculator that makes his designs work awesomely with little tweaking.

I was very lucky that I was able to use the Ti lower links and the machined skid that came with the roller. The skid was narrowed to match the new geometry of the chassis.

I will eventually try out some SUPER VOODOOs but for now I have a set of SUPER PITBULL XOR that are being put together by Rockhumper. These tires have done well on the rocks in my area. Here are what they look like, these are from Dezmoon's rig.

More to come!

Here is the first pic of the mock up. Shocks will get switched out for some Big Bores. Servos on the way. I have to pull my smashed BRXLs out of my Pro rig for the super and program the MT-4 for all the cool things a SUPER can do. This is a big learning curve.

Sweet! Looking good, super class is gonna be bigger than ever at Rausch this year! I'm about to get wrenching on mine again soon, some improvements on the way! Let me know if you need some help with the MT4 setup, I'm "super" happy the way mine works so far.

Thanks Bob. Our last comp before it gets cold is about two weeks away. After that I'll pull the BRXLs and get this bad boy rolling.

Car looks good! I cant wait to see it finished!

Seems like the super scene is really blowing up in certain areas. Hopefully that spreads. I would honestly prefer the national comps to have a focus on the super class over the 2.2s.

Well here is how she sits now, the straight edge is where the balance point is and ride height as of right now.

Here is how tall she sits with the shocks fully extended.

Here is full compression, I think I can drive her upsidedown.

Two structural supports added one in the chassis and one at the rear.

This is all hand done and home brew, I can't wait to get it on the rocks.

It's looking great so far John! The chassis is yet again something different from the others. I'll have to put up my new super thread soo as well.

Had to take a scary amount of material off the tube for mounting the servo.
With the overkill on the tubes, it shouldn't be a problem though.

I also swapped out the 45T motors for the 40T ones. The smallest pinion that will go in is a 14T.
Any smaller and the servo won't fit. I also have a 55t Holmes motor, I might get another one and have the ability to test out different setups.

Thanks Wes for all the help with this.

Amazing what a little dremel work can accomplish. The left side is stock the right side has been worked to get a bit more steering.

A thin slippery ABS skid has been added to the bottom to protect the CF from rubbing and impact.

The tongue of the skid was cut to hold the 800Mah lipo in place and keep weight low and forward.

Just a heads up with something to keep an eye on.
Once you gring the knuckles for more steering, just keep an eye on the amount of steering your using, the cvds don't really allow that much more steering.
So keep an eye on where they max out and keep it around there. The pins wear out quick and snap really easy if you run to much steering

The material you ordered showed up today. Hopefully after the gym I will get the servo mounts built. Also want to cut the rest of the knuckles down, if I have time.

I will bring it along this Sat for you to check out. If you have the other servo bring it along.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Like I have said before I have always been impressed with Turbofest's Super. Needed some steering for this big girl so why recreate the wheel when you have a similar proven design.

No worries with the heads up. I only said it because I do e it with mine. I ended up going to the onfa style shaft, I get heaps better turning now, I've yet to break a shaft since making my own.

I had the same steering set up. It works really well.
