Default ToeBall's First Crawler Build

Mr Postman dropped some stuff off for me today. I'm still waiting on the real goodies but since I finally have something to photograph, I figured I'd start my build thread.

I look forward to seeing more. Just ordered a few things to start a build myself. I'm going to need help once I get going.

Parts have been building up for a while and I finally had the day off so I went down to my local hobby shop and started building on their counter. I got the axles disassembled and greased with Associated black grease. I shimmed the hubs to get rid of as much play as I could. I decided to use the Traxxas Titan 775 motor from my now brushless Summit as the power plant. I picked up a second one and the RC4WD 750 motor conversion kit for the Super Bully axles. I installed all that as well. The extra size of the motor required me to attach the lower links from the outside of the bracket instead of the inside typically used. I'll be running my Futaba 4PX with the battery voltage sensor.

Now I just need my Holmes Hobbies order to show up with steering servos and BRXL's. Actually, that not entirely true. I also need to figure out what I'm going to do for shocks.

Very nice set up. Kind of jealous since I'm not building mine anymore. Just nowhere to run by me.

Torque is a good thing, right?

These are 40 series tires and measure 8 1/4" x 3 1/4" wide. I think the foams may be a bit too firm. We'll see how it actually runs and then I'll make a decision on how to proceed from there on that.

It's the BWD SuperWedge and bodyless kit, yes.

Thanks. I'm sorry you're not building yours anymore. There aren't any real places to run right by me, but I don't mind driving a bit to get so some nice potential trails. Ant there's always the option to stack some rocks by the bayou behind my subdivision in the future. This crawler is mainly to supplement my other RC's. I've got an RC10 Team Car (my first RC from almost 20 years ago), an RS4, a TMax, a brushless Summit 1/10, and a XXX-D. Also my girlfriend's son has an ECX Torment 1/16.

Yes, AJ was suggesting we do a Spiderman/Venom motif. I'll need to spend some time in Photoshop rendering it, I think.

The receiver finally showed up yesterday. I now have a complete set of electronics. I'll post some updates this weekend.
