My first ever super billet bully build

I'm new to the super class and have decided I want to build a super crawler to have ultimate fun with.

Currently on order

- billet works super wedge kit
- billet works motor savers
- billet works dub body less kit
-x2 super bully light weight axles with 65:1
-x2 super bully steering kits
-14mm and 12mm hub kits
- traxxas revo rod ends
- wheels and tires will start with ax10 deadbolt maxxis take offs

I know I have more to order and much to learn. Pics coming soon. I will need help once I start this build.

Does anyone have a recommendation on what standoffs I should run and what shocks you like the best. Billet works recommends 4-4.5 shocks

Comments and suggestions welcome

I also just ordered some tires to attempt to cut and shut. More pics to come

If you need or want to have a replacement cab and side plates I have them for a very reasonable price. I switched to a homebrew SUPER chassis for the 2015 season.

Awesome I plan on building a super as my first crawler, I do have a rc background. But I would still like to get some pointers on building a super.

Re: My first ever super billet bully build

Did those links come with the super wedge kit? Those look pretty nice.

Re: My first ever super billet bully build

Yes the wedge kit came with them. Chassis and links are a kit then the bodiless kit is separate. I will post pics once I start to build. Gathering parts first.

Re: My first ever super billet bully build

So far I have reciveid my chassis, body, links, rod ends, axles, steering links & 12/14/17 hub options

On the way
-40 series axial 8 spoke Beadlocks that I'm going to narrow
-I was going to cut and shut but first I'm going to start with 3.8 bfg krawlers with CI foam, then make some down the road.

To order but not set in stone
- x2 TEKIN FXR ESC
- X2 TEKIN 35t motors
- BEC pro
- x2 Hitec 7950 servos

--Help--
For this set up what transmitter/remote do you all recommend?
-duaL MOA with rear steer. Not sure I'm going to need to set up for dig.

Suggest you use Hitec 7980"s instead of 7950's they just don't have enough torque for supers unless you run the paired up on the front axle .

If you get the front tires in a bind a single 7950 will over heat and smoke the motor

Thank you. That is good to know. I'll probably go that route then. Nice looking rig

To keep comparable torque without a comparable price, you can check out the HH servo's..

572oz of torque. All new steel gears. Full alloy case. Fits a standard servo mount... About half the price of a 7980...

Re: My first ever super billet bully build

Which motors/turns and pinion gears are you using?
What is the part# for the Traxxas shocks?

I'm in the process of doing the same as you.

For the Super Bully 65:1 axles, for some speedy backyard/wifi camera play, what motors turn and pinions does everyone recommend for 7.4V lipo?

Want to have about 4-5Mph...

This build is trial and error for me. I'm just doing my homework before ordering anything. I'm going to use TEKIN 35t motors and as far as gearing I pland to use stock gears and pinion that came with axles then tune from there depending on my liking. The big bore shocks I ordered were TRA4962. I think the hardest part of the build will be wiring and programming remote.

A few more parts came in. I got my wheels and I have narrowed one to see the outcome before doing the rest. 3.8 bfg krawles came in, I'll probably use the foam that came with them or attempt to make my own-trial and error.

Sounds good, keep posting the pictures.
What size where the pinions that came with your axles? 12t ?

Also, finding narrow wheels seems a challenge these days.
RC4WD Huntsman Spiders seem awesome.

Here is my first narrowed wheel. I used bob smith glue and topped with epoxy for strength.

Wheels are narrowed and tires mounted. 7" tall after mounting. Not a bad set up for my first set.

Re: My first ever super billet bully build

Sorry to disappoint anyone that was fallowing but I've desided I'm going to go a different route and maybe just build a scaler. I'm going to return what I can and sell off what I can't. I know the wheels and tires I'll sell because I've already narrowed and maybe have to sell the billet works body. Anyone is interested PM me
