First super

Well, I figured I would jump into the deep water that is the super class. I have just had the inkling to get a bigger rig to run bigger rocks. I will get some pictures of the piles of parts up later.

So here it goes, the build list:

BWD Wedge chassis with lexan panels
Super Bully axles 38:1...will change out to 65:1 later
Lightweight tubes...gonna mod the original tubes and an extra set of knuckles for practice
Hitec 7980 x2
D-Lux servo strengthener on front
Traxxas 4" Big Bores with cap mod - springs/ oil TBA
Or Yeti xl rear shocks with purple springs
Axial 40 series 8 hole beadlock narrowed to 1.5"
Or HPI Blast 115mm narrowed to 1.5"
Cut n Shut white dot Rovers with Trencher sidewalls
CI Double Deuce 7.75" foams in soft and medium outer- to be tuned
D-Lux knuckle weights with bolts/nuts - to be tuned

I need to get some steering links done up after I figure out my steering set up. I would like to do an OTA setup, and I think I can make it happen. I would also like to clock the axle tubes for caster adjustment. I am going to have to do some looking around for the right way to do it.
I have looked for an Eritex drilling jig, but no luck. If somebody has one they would sell, rent or let me borrow, that would be awesome.

I think I have a solid start as of now and will get the electronics bought when my tax return shows up. That will give me some time to do a little more research and pin down what I really want to put in it.

Just watch out with drilling your tubes for clocking.

Depends on exactly what servo mount style your going with, link position.
I done it on a set and didn't like the location of the link mounts, because the flat and the way the link mounts fit
You end up having your Lower links more into the rocks.
Your better off machining the chub off the end of the tube and use the axial chubs. This way you can set your caster seperate to your gearbox clocking.
It's something worth thinking about.

I ended up switching to machined tube(stock)and am running dual 7980 mounts that bolt to the standard holes.

Re: First super

Thanks for the advice. Those are definitely things I am going to have to think about and work around.

I just couldn't stand waiting to get the parts to finish the build so I took a couple deep breaths and pulled the trigger. Might have to pick up a couple cases of top Ramen but the yearning for instant gratification is gone.
The rest of the parts:
Hitec 7980
2 CC BECs set at 8.0v
Dual FXRs
Team Brood 35t limited edition matched pair- slotted arm, and a few other goodies
Dub bodiless topper
Shock springs for tuning
Revo ends
12mm hex hubs and extra pins
Lexan .060 for panels and .125 for new gear dust covers
Screws, nuts, washers , spacers etc.
