Super Shafty? Been out of the scene for a while. What are the options now for super axles that ARE NOT MOA? I have Clod's and I have Bully's...but I want to build a shafty super. What are my best options now-a-days for axles? |
Re: Super Shafty? I've been thinking about this too, and it seems like the best option for parts availability might be to use AR60's widened to use two long side axle shafts. This requires some work, but by using long side steel Beef Tubes shouldn't be too tough. I don't know if anyone would sell individual long tubes and shafts, but that would be nice to keep from having to buy pairs of both and then throwing away the short side parts. Interested to hear other ideas... |
Re: Super Shafty? Ummmm...hmmm https://www.kyoshoamerica.com/34255-...t_p_25839.html Mad/Twin force axles under these possibly? |
Re: Super Shafty? The width looks good, and the metal knuckles are nice. Wonder what it cost to put a set together.. |
Re: Super Shafty? Build your own axle. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/large...ml#post1319830 built not bought "thumbsup" |

Although not near as finished as yours! It was still fun, but had many limitations due to the use of uncommon, for a crawler, parts. Namely, it was heavy, had poor steering angles, was ok to crawl but with no speed, etc. Sadly, I never had a chance to evolve it once it was stolen right off the passenger seat of my 1:1 crawler while parked on a trailer overnight. Still, I think building axles with proven off the shelf parts like AR60 stuff that has OD/UD gears available, CroMo axles, crazy steering, etc, is the way I would go if I decided to build another set of custom axles. |

Dud why would you leave a valuable on front seat overnight, . well build this one and keep it safe I run 7955's in my 1/8 buggy on 7" tires at 12lbs, I just added a ton of lead weights, but going to take some off, anyway the steering servo's keep up just fine. IF you want 2 speeds, drop in a emaxx trans. I saw the new two speed box from rc4wd, but back in the day when I tried thier transmissions, they broke in 15 ft. maybe they are better now..? |
Re: Super Shafty? Losi comp crawler axles. I built a half shafty/ moa super. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/super...ner-build.html |
Re: Super Shafty? Interested in hearing what you decide on. I too am wanting to build a shaft driven super. I have watched a video from BleepinJeeps (unsure of exact spelling) found on YouTube about narrowing ar60 axles and the same process could be used to widen them, so I plan to run with that.
