Tamiya 3-speed question I have a question concerning all you Tamiya 3-speed owners... I know that these kits require a 3-channel radio at least in order to have the shift function. My question is if it's possible that i can use my trigger style transmitter instead of the old joystick type. My trigger style transmitter is 3channel so is there any way i can use my channel 3 button on the transmitter to switch the gears on the tranny instead of using the joystick type? Thanks. |
Re: Tamiya 3-speed question Sure can. I use my spektrum and the shifting is flawless. |
Re: Tamiya 3-speed question Only thing will be whether your 3rd channel is 3 position or just 2 position. |

Did you have to adjust end points and features like that? |

Most buttons are 2 position switches. ( example on-off) What radio are you using? |
Re: Tamiya 3-speed question Some radios 3rd ch has only 2 selections some have more. If it only has 2 selection it wont work. It requires at least 3. I have a HL using a KoPropo radio and the 3rd ch has a button for up and down. It has a zero point of you like and 2 up and 2 down. So you need a zero point and a selection on the 3rd ch in up and dwn so you can opperate all 3 gears. |
Re: Tamiya 3-speed question i think they are referring to a radio like the traxxas tq radio for the summit..where it has a 3rd channel with a 3 position switch..the switch has 3 positions. |

So i am assuming my CH3 is a 2 position, on-off. |

Re: Tamiya 3-speed question Yes, the flysky is a 2 position switch. You will be able to shift between 2 gears only. There is a hack kit available for that radio that will open up a lot of options should you want to go that route. (Have one, it's well worth it) |
