Default First Post: Childhood dream / adult silliness?

Greetings from Switzerland. The bruiser came out when I was 11 years old and was absolutely unattainable for the young me....a sentiment I bet many can relate to.

Recently I discovered the world of RC again (I flew RC planes for about 10 years) and have found the 1:10 scale 4x4s just awesome. A lot of the builds here are really inspiring! And with the Bruiser/Mountain Rider available new...well...

So last night I ordered a few parts from my local hobby shop (they ship for free, saves me trying to get there after work) to 1) build the truck I wanted as a kid, and 2) mod it to what I want now...

Tough Armor Bruiser Front Bumper (found on ebay)
Toyota 4x4 Pick-Up Mountain Rider 1:10 Kit
RC4WD Seilwinde 1:10 Warn 9.5cti Winch
F-14 RC Anlage 4/8/1
Advantage ONE 406 AC/DC Charger
LiPo 4S 14.8V / 3300mAh 35/70C T Plug
Umhängeriemen 1 Punkt
Savöx SA-1283SG Digital 30kg 6V
RC4WD 1.9 Vintage Cruiser Stamped Steel Wheels (4)
RC4WD Rock Crusher X/T 1.9 Tires
RC4WD Wired Winch Control Unit
RC4WD Boulder Metal Scale Shovel with D-Grip (Black)
RC4WD Monster Hooks Monster Rope 20"
RC4WD Soft Steel Leaf Spring for Trail Finder 2
RC4WD Yota Axle Shock Mounts (x4)
RC4WD Yota Ultimate Scale Cast Straight Axle (Rear)
RC4WD Yota Ultimate Scale Cast Axle (Front)
RC4WD Roll Bar for Tamiya Body sets with Light bar
RC4WD Tough Armor Rear Bumper for Bruiser Chassis
RC4WD Front Inner Fender Set for Mojave / Hilux Body
Novak Crusher Brushless Rock Crawler System 18.5T

Now the wait for delivery begins...torture.

Cheers!
Angus

Welcome.

I can relate, your thread title I think sums up a lot of our motivation.

Live the dream, and show us some pics as you build!.

Default Progress

She`s coming right along. Ended up raising the trans 7mm with spacers sot hat i could lower the suspension and get the extension plus tire-in-fender when flexing. Needed to do some pain correction...still working on that.

Novak 18.5 crawler brushless is perfect. changed the stock pinion from 19t to 14t. wild amounts of power on 2S, ridiculous on 4S. The Savox servo is awesome. Huge power. Switched to a Spektrum DX4S radio. Really, a fab radio. Too bad it so light and cheap feeling, but the functionality is tops.

How did I miss this amazing build!!! How did the transmission hold up to the brushless power and 3s and 4s lipo?

The Trans has held up fine - no problems. The speed control...not so much. The novak smoked on the second battery pack. even on 4S the 18.5 is not very fast - just quicker than a fast walk.

I now have a brushed 27t and SV3 on 3S in it. It's more than quick enough. Haven't driven this rig in a few months - maybe it's time for it to come out again!
