Default 2wd to 4wd in 2nd

Is there a way to convert from 2wd in 2nd to 4wd or full time

I have very little use for 2wd in general, and would still have 2wd in 3rd

I havent yet taken my gearbox apart to see the full shifting mechansim but, like on a 1:1 truck with 4hi, I dont see why it cant be done ?

You might be able to remove the linkage from the rear shift fork and somehow fix it in place - that what engages 4WD. The front fork does Hi/Low IIRC. That would be full time 4WD though, no 2WD.

I was thinking about that too, so far i only looked through the manuel to see what can be done to maybe spring load the shift fork in 2nd back to 4wd till it moves all the way to 3rd

I would like to try to keep one 2wd gear if possible, as thats kinda part of the novelty of these trucks

For all my daily drivers (original 1980’s version), I removed the short spring entirely and swapped it out with the longer spring. That keeps the idler gear in constant contact with the main gear assembly. 4x4 all day with low mid and high range.
Not so sure about the Re Re.
Enjoy

For re-re Bruiser and HG-P407 transmissions, you can replace the rearmost gear with a 22t motor pinion (5mm shaft) like one from Robinson Racing (RRP 8622 or 8722). This enables full time 4WD. Denny Dempsey just posted a how-to video on Youtube.
