Lower links hitting motor
 

has anyone tried a set of bent lower links fro a super? I'm thinking about making a set but when I tried to mount the lower links at the top of the knuckle they hit the motor(with straight links). I want to use my 9t pinions and with the adjustable motor mount and integy motors the lower links hit. I was thinking of making a set that look like the AX-10. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

This is what I have now, It doesnt do it in this configuration. But im wanting to get the lower links out of the way for more gc and when ive tried to move the to the top of the knuckle with a straight link it hits.

I was thinking bent lowers might work but didnt wanna go threw the trouble if it wont.......

Make your upper links longer, this way it will roll your axles back and lift the motor between you uppers and lowers.

hey rock, you mean sort of like clocking the axles? Is there a certin degree I should go? Or just what works. I dont wanna put to much of a bind on the knuckles if I clock it to much.

I cant tel by the pics, but where are your lower links mounted on the axle? Get them as far to the outside as possible. I have big thick links on my rig and they don't touch at all and their not bent.

Right now they are mounted at the bottom of the knuckle, I guess i can move them to the outside of the frame also. I'll have ot wait for the wheel spacers thow.

Yea sorta like "clocking" the axles, go with what works, I'm not sure of any "exact" angle.

I am still a little confused. are the links hitting the motor or the gear case? based on the pic in post #3, it looks to be hitting the gear case. I would definitely move the links to the top of the knuckle. And bring them out a little on the chassis end. as long as you keep everything good and triangulated, you should bot get any side to side motion. Raise the links and get them farther out on the chassis. hope this helps, and nice looking tuber"thumbsup"

Totally agree. BAD IDEA! with tires, that will put your center at about 6 or 7" way to high for a crawler, but great for a monster truck if that is what you are going for. The lower the COG, the better off you be. Just my .02

So do you think Id be ok by just lowering the cg and leaving the lowers were they are? I still have the stock clod tires on now but have a set of imex rr's to install as soon as the adaptors come in. It just seems to get hung up alot on the rear lower links, but that could be a number of things i guess no weight in tires etc, bad traction.

wait to make any bends in the links until the spacers come in. I honestly would not recommend bending the links. Just curious, but have you move the link to the lowers above the axle yet? I still think that will help.

Bent links? Why would that increase CG (other than the negligible amount of weight from the upward bend in the link)?

I think he meant gc, Ground Clearance.

I have my links on the bottom of the knuckle. It does't really effect ground clearance at all. It enables the rig to use the lower links to slide over obstacles. It hasn't been a problem since i built it. I say leave the lower links down there.
