So, I have been working on this project no and off for nearly a year, and now I guess it is ready to be shown. This entire build was a world of firsts for me. I had never done ANY metal work before. I had never done any fiberglass work either. My main experience had been with 1/8 truggies and 1/10 on road cars. So here it is. The spec are as follows. Mamba Max esc 2 IntegyV10 65T motors Tower Pros until I get more funds Moabs on proline 40S (want to get some RC4WD aluminums) Tube Chassis Custom fiberglass body It is still a work in progress, as I love to tool on it as much as I do drive it. Let me know what you think. Steve This is the chassis before I shortened the front and rear a bit This is the final product after the fiber glass was laid out and painted What truck would be complete with out a high lift? I made this out of some old graphite I had laying around from a touring car chassis Finally!!! Here is The Ox out on the rocks in y back yard at The Falls of the Ohio Enjoy! and remember, this is a total first for me all around Last edited by mavicracer; 02-29-2008 at 06:18 AM. |

I know that dude! Great crawler! That was the day before the Tri State Crawlers canceled the meet at the Falls of the Ohio for high water. I was so F'ing cold that day! He cut of the part of the picture where it showed his hands because they were in the first stages of hypothermia!:-P Nice job bro, I will meet you there again this weekend. |

Yeah, no gloves and a pistol radio really don't mix. Cold really wasn't the word that day. It was terrible, but once my fingers went numb, everything was good |

I made the body first out of lexan. The panels were attached to the chassis with a few zip ties. Next I put a few strips over the lex panels and let it cure. Cut the zip ties and remove the original panels. I used those thin original strips of glass as a kind of armature to lay the rest of the glass on. It took a couple of coats to get the thickness I wanted, which is right about 3-4mm. It holds it self to the chassis by wrapping around some of the frame work. I will try to pat up some better detailed pictures this weekend. b the way, the glass is nearly bullet proof |
