Locking plates are the best it's what I run. The trac gears cost more weigh more and didn't seem to mesh with other gears correctly. The locking plates screw right on. You no longer have to worry about any thing it's nice.

I used some plumber repair epoxy. Same idea as JB weld, except the plumber repair is a putty, kinda like playdo. That way it doesn't run all over and you don't have to make a clay dam to hold it in.

Hot glue works just as well, and it's easier to work with. And you could probably remove it later on if you wanted.

I've found the best things to do to hold them together while they're being glued is a big set of vice grips, or a real vice would work pretty well, but with the vice grips, while its still gooey you can rotate it around. Just set it soft enough to provide adequate pressure, and clamp it down so the pressure is even (right on center)

I remember on a website that a i saw a long time ago they said that Shoe Goe works really well in almost any diff design, it has good resistance to lock it and it can also be removed (if done carfully) without recking anything. (i'd clean it out after if you decide to remove the goe)
