| This is "Grumpy" my pimp cane clod super. He's not finished yet, but I have been working on him some behind the scenes. I painted the body this weekend and I am still waiting on a few parts. The body did not come out as nice as I had hoped, but it is still pretty cool. As for the name, I am not a morning person. I am nick named "sunshine" at my work because I usually come to work half asleep. Also, this is going to be the most difficult RC I have driven and I am sure it will be making me a little "grumpy". | Eddie, I like your truck Orange is my favorite color. My 1964 Chevy Nova is orange and so are several of my other RC's. My name is Eddie also. How ironic Thanks for the compliment BTW, I am excited to get it finished soon. |

I debated about other names but I always came back to this one. It just fit me, the truck and the super in general. I competed in super at our last comp using a buddies clod hustler and got 2nd. That wasn't a big deal because there were only three competitors and a 2.2 took 1st

Thanks CD. I followed your rebuild on your pimp cane super and that is a nice rig I am definitely excited to get Grumpy finished. I think he is going to be much easier to drive that my friends hustler clod super I drove in the last TXRCRCA comp. At least I am hoping so.

| Looks real good. That body came out looking good on that chassis. The balance is more important on 2.2's then supers. Just take the time to learn how it reacts. Driving time is important with a Pimp Cane. |

| Been watching both the Grunt and Grumpy builds, and still learning new tricks. I went the other way though. I already have a Super, and I am now building a 2.2. Thanks for all the tips |

| Your welcome for the tips and thank you for the compliment. I enjoy building probably more so than driving. Figuring out ways to modify and strengthen or just make something better is so much fun. Best of luck to you on your 2.2. Let me know if I can help you with any information. |

| So with the TXRCRCA comp season starting next month I finally put the wheels together right. They are Pro-Line 23mm Cheyenne bead locks, narrowed, wrapped in fiberglass, then wrapped in stick on lead weight. I installed full Kreepy Ruby Red's in the front and full Kreepy Pinks in the rear. I did not narrow the foams or anything. After much reading on this forum, talking with others and experimenting with my 2.2's, I felt installing full size is the best bet. I did glue the ends of the foam strips together to make them dough nuts before installing. Standard Moab XL's ![]() |

| Next was the front axle. Lot's going on here. First, was the case. ![]() Next was modifying the steering to get maximum turning radius. Everything must have clearance so the only thing limiting steering is the TTR CVD's. ![]() ![]() I used the same techniques for the most part that I used on "The Grunt". This photo shows how I reshaped the TTR BTA steering link: ![]() These next three photos show the modified TTR BTA assembly. The servo plate is suppose to be installed on top of the bracket. If you cut the servo mount plate to fit below the TTR axle brace it lowers the COG slightly and positions the servo horn lower to the steering link: ![]() Once the servo is mounted lower, you gain some clearance from the motor. I use an aluminum airplane servo horn because of the length and travel it gives me. I realize I am losing some torque, but it has not been significant on "The Grunt", so I am hopeful it will be OK on the Super. Note how the clod case has been shaved for extra clearance for the steering linkage. ![]() With the servo lower and the longer servo horn attached, you can now make up the linkage to connect it to the steering link. With as much travel as I am getting due these mods, I have to bevel the servo horn, bevel (grind) a little on the motor, file the clod case, and file the rod end slightly on the linkage to make sure everything clears. |

| With the steering done, the case weighted, the C's beveled slightly for clearance, I installed the full Integy aluminum gears, greased them and shimmed the brass drive ends into the locker. I soldered up the motor, installed the RC4WD adjustable motor mount on the Integy 65 turn motor with a 9 tooth long pinion and made my own plexiglass cover for the sight hole. Then installed a RC4WD axle plate so that I can mount my typical Traxxas T Maxx receiver box to house my Mamba Max ESC. You have to modify the box of course to fit the ESC, but it works out great. It protects the ESC and I have never had one get hot. I programmed the ESC, soldered the 4mm plugs for the motor and put in the box. I also installed a set of custom 23mm hubs that fit a Losi LST2. I forgot who exactly made these. I think it might be KMW but I am not certain. They are made of aluminum and have reverse threading. Two for the left side and two for the right side. They also use a 1/8 thick drive pin, so you have to drill the TTR CVD's bigger to except the bigger drive pin. Another nice feature about these hubs is they use a set screw to hold the drive pin in place. That way it cannot come out during use or when changing rims & tires. They are also extremely narrow compared to the wideners I was going to use at first. I want to keep this Super narrow and take advantage of no links and the pimp cane chassis. ![]() ![]() Now on to the rear axle |

| That is the goal. I have all the parts, I just need to make the time and get it built. I have had too many distractions the last few months. Are you going to be at the Glenn Ross comp? |
