I've had axles and wheels sitting waiting to be built up for a long long time (since last June or July I think!). Too many other priorities (like changing around my 2.2 rig on a seemingly constant basis!), but I'm nearing completion so figured I could start posting up some progress pics. This thing is going to get finished this weekend, no matter what Specs: Axles: Stage 3 RCP axles (full bearings, aluminum lockers), JP steering knuckles, Thundertech wideners/adapters, aluminum upper link mounts Wheels/tires: Proline Moabs on narrowed Cheyenne beadlocks (yes, I know the front tires are on backwards!) Chassis: Tuber, obviously! Links: 3/8" delrin with Jato and Revo rodends, connected with 8-32 allthread. Steering links are solid 1/4" aluminum with stampede rodends. Shocks: Traxxas 4" big bore aluminum Motors: 65 turn Integy with 7 and 8 tooth long pinions (I think that's right!), mounted with adjustable motor mounts Servos: Towerpros (945 if I recall correctly) mounted with Integy mounts Esc: Novak Rooster Crawler, hooked up to CC BEC Radio: Traxxas TQ3 with modified rear steer switch And the pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still have the electronics to go. All the links are now mounted up and the shocks temporarily mounted, and panels are done so only a little more to go! Ride height will sit around 4.75", wheelbase as pictured is 17.5".

It's all done, and pics to prove it: ![]() Plenty of room in the belly pan for esc, rx and sub-c six pack if you so chose to run the batteries there. ![]() ![]() ![]() Good amount of flex without being too excessive. Wired it all up, plugged in the battery, calibrated the esc and what do you know, it worked! Of course, all the snow kept me from trying it outdoors. Just ran it on the carpet, up the stairs, etc. Supers truly are giant beasts of crawlers. Too bad nobody else runs them around here.

Looks good! Love the carbon fiber panels. I keep thinking I should try to build a tuber, but I am not sure how to set it up. I have just started crawling and basically built a chassis out of some aluminum I had laying around and used some Clod axles from 15 years ago. I have now caught the bug and want to start improving on this mess. Since this is all new to me, I am wondering if you could give me a measurement. I am looking for the amount of seperation between the upper and lower links on the chassis. I am trying go get a ballpark figure so I can build a little adjustment into it without having to drill ump-teen holes that I don't need. Thanks, Barfnick

Carbon fiber stickers As for the link placement, I think they're about 1.5 inches apart, but don't quote me on that. A good thing to do is to get a bunch of pipecleaners (the dollar stores usually sell them in bulk packages) and do some mock-ups that way. I almost always do drawings on paper for my tuber builds. For my 2.2 builds, I have 11x17 "templates" with the wheels drawn on at a 12.5 inch wheelbase. I then draw in various lines to indicate where my shocks and links mount, and where my clearance is for servos (if I'm making a longer chassis). Picked up this trick from Double J. Planning pays off! Thanks for the feedback guys.

Come on, Canada's only the second biggest country in the world Red Deer, Alberta. I have a hard time finding people with 2.2s, never mind supers!

Thanks for the tips. I will need to decide about how long of a wheel base I want and go from there with some rough sketches.

This thread is a bit old, I was suprised to see it brought to the top. Anyways, I made the tuber but it has since moved on to another owner. I am a vendor here, so can always make another one to sell.
