Default Clod crawler with 4WS and F/R Dig requires 4 Channels?

Am I correct in my line of thinking that in order to run 4WS plus have a Front/Rear Dig switch on my clod crawler I will need a 4 Channel radio?

(And yes, I understand...4ws is not competition legal and the dig setup prolly is not either....BUT I DO NOT CARE...it is what I want and the rest of my rig wont be comp legal either )

Please, correct me if I am wrong about the # of required channels.

Thanks guys!

it depends on whether or not you want to control the front and rear steer independently. if you put the 2 steering servos on a reversing y harness, you could do it with 3 channels. that is what I am getting ready to do right now. I was controlling the steer independently on my 3rd , but not they are controlled together and I am going to use the 3rd and a micro servo to control dig. Hope this helps.

I tried having front and rear on the same channel for a while too and it seems it gets you in more trouble than its worth.
Just my findings though, everyones different

I am new to the whole dig thing, so please explain how it is hard on the BEC. would it still be a strain if I am running a receiver pack? just wondering.

Why would 4WS not be comp legal? Is this a 2.2?

Reciever pack will help the bec but alot of the time you are trying to steer where your wanting to go, the rear servo is on the down hill end or in a jam and your trying to turn both ends at the same time but the rear won't because all the weight or jam are keeping it from moving. That servo will be pulling all your bec voltage and more or less killing the voltage to the other servo.
