Default Cc Bec, Ht805bb????

I was reading everything I cold get my hands on and didn't come across this all in one spot.

Some people have been burning up the 805s running 6v, I have seen posts where people turned the BECs up to 7v and haven't burned them.
So, what's the accepted voltage and is there a correlation between the CC BEC and burning these up?

Do you really need the 343 oz torque?

Is anyone running 2 BECs w/ separate batteries for ea ESC w/ stick TX?

I am running a CC BEC one 1 805 at 6 volts with good luck. I also ran a 5745 and a 5955 at 6.5 with no issues, as soon as I turned it up to 7.2 the 5745 shut down.

From what I've read on the subject (which is a lot, I researched this for my super) the castle BEC only burns up when people have run TWO HS805s through ONE BEC. When they dedicate a BEC to each servo (i.e. a super with two servos will need two BECs) the BECs can handle the load just fine.

In light of this, I'll be ordering two BECs for my super.

Default CC BEC?? Running two Hobbico CS-80 Giant scale servos

Hi Paul,

So by what you said, I should not consider running to Hobbico CS-80 Giant scale (1/4 scale?) servos on one CC BEC?
I could find no stall amperage rating for these servos, so did a bench test on them.

5 cell, Nicd, C-cell pack
Read 6.43v before tests
Moved the stick full right, let the servo turn 45deg and held tight.
Did about 12 tests getting 3.15 - 3.40 amps. Most arond 3.25 amps.

CC BEC, 5a continuous, 8a for 60secs, 10a for <1sec.
Worst would be if the tires were pinched and fighting the servos, but even if I crank the steering to lock, and hold it there I will probably be pulling 6 to 6.8 amps. These are non digital servos and my radio does not have the ability to set servo stop points.
So if I hold it steered sharp for more the 60secs, I'll overload the BEC.

What happens when it overloads?
Simple reset, or does it fry?

If I set the voltage on the CC BEC to 5.5. Should my stall current be much lower? If I resolder this old Nicd test pack, I could simulate that, but that is a pain to do, especially if someone replies to this post and affirms one BEC is not enough.

Really don't want to carry around another 5 cell pack on this truck, even 2/3C cells, but do not want to spend $50 on two BECs right now.

Don't forget, servos will pull a lot more amps when under load than when being moved against no resistance. I haven't actually tried my CC BEC in my super yet, still waiting on more electronics. Let me see if i can dig out the thread that I got my info from for you...

Default CS-80: 3.4a at stall (under load)

Sorry if my long winded post was confusing.

I think I determined that the CS-80 servos I have would pull 3.4a, at stall (under full load) when at 6.4v.

So what is the bit on the CC web site where they say it can handle 7a continuous if under 12v supply??
That would mean if I run 8.4nimh pack, this SHOULD (not WILL) handle 7a.
So 3.4+3.4=6.8<7 And that is if I ran 6.4v output. If I set it up to run 5.5v output, then my amp draw should be a little lower.

Hmmmmm.
Take the chance and burn it up running two, or spend $45 at my LHS.

Really like Holmes Hobbies. Great guy, very helpful! Would order from him anytime. $36+2.50progfee+2.50progfee+(+tax?)+$3ship=$44(+ta x?)

I like to keep the LHS in business also. Good guy, very helpful. If they were to close shop, nearest shop would be 30min ride. LHS price is 21.95, so $44++$0progfee+6%=$46.64.

BTW, really want a Holmes Revolver or Crawlmaster. I would have to believe they would really make any crawler complete. After I get mine running where I kind-of want it. Might have to make one of those the next purchase. Running a Hacker A30-8XL 1100KV now. Good, but could be better.

I was thinking two batts, two BECs and 2 ESCs with a stick radio is the only way to get by with the 1/4 scale stuff and not fry parts.


Holmes kicks butt, but then again most of the other shops on here does too. Sweli, my problem is that all the other parts I need to order can't be found at the LHS, but I agree, spreading the $$ around helps them all.

I've been running a Hobbico CS-80 along with a GWS S777 in my Twin Force through a CCBEC at 7.2 volts. Never had a hiccup or any problems. I guess I'm the minority, though.

Same here, I was running with the Super Duty XR and a novak regulator with 2 CS-80s. No problems.
I have since switched to Mamba Max and CC BEC with the same servos as well as a micro dig servo at 6.1v with no problems so far.

Awww crap, you mean there are cheaper servos for better prices than the HT :-(

I am running a 6 cell 3700 GP and a 3 cell 3700 GP in series. 65t Lathes. I am getting 45 minutes I would say.

I usually use a 7 cell. I took all (3) my GP 7 cells and made them 6 and used the 3 remaining for a 3 cell just to see how the extra voltage would work. Definetly sticking with 9-10 cells now.
RX pack not needed. Plenty of run time for me. I use a 7 cell Elite along with a 4 cell elite for when I want some extra gusto.

CS80s have served me well. Burnt one up a few years ago. other than that they are a great servo.

At 7.2v that thing is almost hitting 700in/oz!!!! You could bend aluminum with that thing! Looks like the same outside LxW as a CS-80, but depth is crazy big, and 6BB!!!.

I get about 20+min runtime(over backyard obstacles, nothing series).
I am thinking of wiring another cell up with male and female deans to add a cell or two when I want more. That way I can still use the 6cell pack with other cars.

At that kind of torque, he must me using it for hauling beer kegs around the coarse... I hadn't looked up the S777 specs, that is some impressive numbers.

Yeah I'd say it's close to 700 oz/in at 7.2. Not sure of the stall amps, I measured it last year but don't remember. Maybe 6-7 amps. I'll be purchasing an rc-specific watt meter soon, though. Turns my big tires on the big truck with ease :-P
